The Department of Mental Health Metro Boston Area is seeking motivated and detail-oriented applicants for the role of Environmental Service Specialist I in our Environmental Service Specialist (EVS) Department. The ideal candidate performs cleaning functions in assigned areas of the facility, client's rooms, staff areas, offices, and public areas and performs other related duties as described below. Assignments may not be consistent from day to day; therefore, the candidate must be flexible and willing to perform the assigned duties as outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):
- Performs miscellaneous manual tasks in a state institution or building.
- Cleans, waxes, and/or polishes offices, rooms, ward corridors, pantries, floors, windows, woodwork, laboratories, washrooms, walls, fixtures, and ground areas.
- Collects soiled linens and other articles requiring laundering, for transportation to laundry and distributes laundered articles when returned.
- Clean by operating all equipment used in the housekeeping department.
- May make minor repairs to fixtures and cleaning equipment.
- Shovels snow of stairs and grounds area
- Moves furniture as required.
- Inspects areas cleaned by others for completion of job duties.
- Coordinates/interfaces with program heads of the building to ensure the cleanliness of the building.

Required Qualifications:
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks assigned.
- Considerable knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods commonly used in housekeeping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Building Custodial or Institutional Housecleaning work.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Schedule: This is a full-time (40 Hours) position 7:00 .AM to 3:00 PM. Days off are every other weekend and rotating weekdays.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
