Become a Payroll, Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll work as a Lead in a team environment on timekeeping process improvements; partner with other Payroll Specialists on continuous improvements and best practices; and collaborate with our business partners to optimize automation to increase efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve various conventional problems, questions, or situations in accordance with defined criteria, practices, or protocols related to timekeeping, including disability claims. The Senior Specialist will also lead various projects on behalf of her leader.

Responsibilities
- Handles and resolves complex payroll discrepancies and irregularities including managing out-of-cycle pay runs and retroactive pay adjustments
- Directs the delivery of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Ensures there are proper backup and restoration plans for payroll data, and participates in periodic testing of backup systems and processes
- Researches changes in federal, state, and local payroll regulations by actively researching and interpreting new laws or changes and ensures the organization remains compliant
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Partners with payroll system vendors to stay updated with software updates, patches, or potential issues that could affect payroll processing
- Analyzes payroll data to identify trends, inconsistencies, or areas of concern and prepares advanced reports for management to provide insights into payroll activities
- Provides support to the Finance team preparing GL reports and with any payroll salary/tax/deduction questions
- Manages payrolls using SAP/Payroll systems by leading its processing, data entry, validation, reconciliation, and auditing processes
- Manage the reviews and processing of employee expense reports, including processing check and direct deposit payments
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in payroll administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel performing functions such as VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.
- Experience in Robotic Processing Automation.
- Experience using Alteryx.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws.
- Experience using SAP and/or other similar enterprise-wide software.
- Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong ethics and the ability to manage multiple projects and engage in continuous learning.
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
