The Digital Buildings Line of Business (LoB) is a 1.6Bn business with an aggressive growth agenda that specializes in building automation. We help customers accelerate their decarbonization goals through automation and digitization.

Primary Function:

The Finance Director is tasked with overseeing the financial aspects of R&D within the Line of Business (LoB). Their mission is to align R&D investments with the company's strategic goals, maximize returns, and manage costs while fostering innovation. This role is essential for balancing financial accountability with R&D investments that will shape the future.

The Finance Director will develop financial strategies and planning for offerings and portfolio management in Digital Buildings to achieve the strategic plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong finance background, experience in product management, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions. This position reports directly to the Division CFO of Digital Energy, with a strong dotted line to the SVP of Digital Buildings LoB.

What will you do?

1 Support the Delivery of the Business Vision and Strategy
  • Ensure business vision is translated into executable strategy
  • Work with the business to build and refine the strategic plan and the offer/product portfolio to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with LoB SVP and management team to define resource allocation within the business models

2 Offer and R&D Project Support:
  • Provide business case support and challenge for new LoB offers, ensuring coherence with LoB strategy
  • Work with the R&D team to drive project prioritization, R&D projects portfolio management and R&D footprint
  • Escalate risks and opportunities to the Business and Division CFO
  • Constantly support the leagues for insights to adjust and optimize the project roadmap & portfolio
  • Support the team transition into the "Future Ready R&D" vision

3 Business Advisory:
  • Support the quarterly business review process for the LoB
  • Drive financial assessment of portfolio reviews and M&A opportunities
  • Run long-term profitability simulations and understand results of actions
  • Monitor market trends and benchmark with external companies for financial best practices
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to group policies and procedures.

4 Delivery of Financial Results
  • Work in conjunction with the Front Office Operations, R&D, and Project Controlling to identify opportunities for P&L improvement and sustainable growth
  • Partner with the LoB SVP and HR Director on organization efficiency and transformation initiatives

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Previous P&L accountability and or GSC experience is a must, as well as exposure to project, software, and service business model
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in finance and business, ideally in a matrixed multinational environment
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance/MBA Preferred
  • Entrepreneurial, Collaborative, Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking & analytical skills and the ability to make informed & data driven decisions
  • Driven, passionate about growth and always ready to challenge the status quo to best interest of the business
  • Ability to navigate and understand a multicultural business environment
  • Open to travel as needed (~10% travel required, domestic and international)
