Job Summary
The Finance Manager supports the Finance Director in overseeing the company’s day-to-day financial operations and plays a critical role in managing financial data, reporting, and analysis. This role also ensures that financial systems and processes are running smoothly, partnering across departments to implement financial strategies. The Finance Manager is responsible for hands-on budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and large capital project tracking and reporting. This role provides essential financial insights and works closely with the Accounting and Operational teams to ensure alignment with company objectives.

This is onsite position, working out of Albuquerque, NM, Oak Ridge, TN or Charlotte, NC office.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Execution:
- Reporting
- Prepare financial reports for executive presentations, board meetings, investor communications, and internal departmental use.
- Lead financial forecasting processes, working closely with department leaders to develop accurate and aligned short-term and long-term financial plans.
- Prepare financial reports and assist in overseeing compliance with state, federal, and industry financial regulations (NRC, DOE, FERC), including capital project regulations. Leverage data analytics software to streamline financial analysis, generate reports, and provide insights for decision-making.
- Manage cost tracking for large capital projects, ensuring that all expenses are properly accounted for, and financial controls are in place to manage budget overruns.
- Strategic Analysis
- Provide insights and analysis to help with budget management and cost containment, particularly for ongoing projects.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, forecasting, and project financial performance reviews. Partner with cross-functional teams such as project management and other finance functions to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Complete ad hoc analysis as needed.
- Contract Management & Project Oversight
- Oversee cost share contracts, ensuring compliance with financial terms and conditions while supporting contract execution and administration.
- Act as the primary finance liaison for contracts with National Labs and similar partners, collaborating with Engineering and Accounting to ensure accurate financial management and alignment with company objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to prepare and submit contract applications and manage internal workflows, approval chains, and documentation.
- Financial Incentives
- Prepare and coordinate applications for financial incentives applications at the federal, state, and local levels; ensuring forecasts and financial data are accurate.
- Assist with researching available financial incentives and grants, and coordinate with internal teams to align research with the company's strategic goals.
- Policy & Operational Support
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to optimize operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Coordinate with Accounting to ensure that financial data is accurately captured and reported, aligning with internal controls and compliance standards.
Cross-functional Support & Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between the Finance department and other functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, Strategy, Business Development, Accounting), ensuring smooth collaboration on financial matters.
- Track and report project financials, focusing on cost variances and performance metrics.
- Provide actionable financial insights to internal leadership to aid in strategic decision-making.
- Support the Finance Director with financial planning, scenario analysis, and preparation of financial presentations.
- Assist in refining financial models and processes to drive business growth and profitability.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement:
- Financial Systems Management
- Manage the Finance systems, ensuring data integrity and smooth integration with other operational platforms.
- Implement and continuously improve financial systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Process Improvement
- Lead efforts to automate financial reporting, improving the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
- Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and project tracking.
Qualifications
- Analytical thinker with problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Strong financial analysis and forecasting abilities
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations
- Familiarity with financial systems and software (e.g., ERP, Excel, data visualization tools)
- B.S. degree in Finance, or equivalent
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
- Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
