Job Description Summary
Impact Dynamics builds analytical models of the fan modules and component rigs to enable design assessment, calculation of primary/secondary damage and impact design loads, and to assist in ingestion related problem solving and non-linear dynamic analysis for tech maturation, new and fielded products. As a Lead Engineer within Impact Dynamics, you interface with design, Systems, and Engine Dynamics to work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

As an Impact Dynamics Lead Engineer, you will:

- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Develop and analyze LSDYNA models to support the design and development of aircraft engines. Provide impact loads, deflections, & stress/strain results to design groups and provide guidance for interpretation.
- Prepare reports and present to engine program customers and engineering leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 5 additional years of in an Engineering position or equivalent experience
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance
Desired Characteristics
- Prior experience with LS-DYNA or other explicit FE code.
- Familiarity with structural analysis, preloaded structures, rotating structures.
- Familiarity with Hypermesh, ANSYS, or other meshing software.
- Familiarity with impact testing methods and material correlation
- Interest in continuing to improve standard processes and best practices
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Strong problem-solving skills
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
