Job Description Summary
The Advanced Lead Engineer in the Acoustics team will conduct community noise assessments and identify opportunities for technology maturation aimed at reducing overall engine and component noise in commercial aircraft. Responsibilities include managing subscale acoustic test activities, performing post-test data reduction and analysis, and advancing acoustic prediction and modeling capabilities through computational aeroacoustics (CAA) analyses. This role will also serve as a focal point for engine and cabin noise tests and predictive analysis, while mentoring junior members of the acoustics team.

- Execute and lead acoustic analysis, design, test, and integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and product requirements.
- Document and communicate acoustic design, analysis, and test data results.
- Lead the preparation and execution of test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelines.
- Advance state-of-the-art developments as a recognized leader for tools, methods, process improvements, new product introduction activities, lean waste elimination, and problem resolutions.
- Lead process improvement through design practice development, standard work creation, and sharing of lessons learned.
- Interface with internal leadership, suppliers, partners, and airframe customers to deliver on priorities.
- Support the acoustics team through computational modeling, tool development, and validation.
- Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers.
- Coordinate with your Chief Consulting Engineer and Manager on technical and program imperatives.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
- Support internal and external customers, and suppliers as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least 4 years of industry experience within the acoustics or aerodynamic domain.
- Willingness to travel to internal and external test facilities to support acoustic testing and data collection.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Characteristics
- PhD degree in Engineering with a focus in acoustics or aerodynamics.
- Experience managing acoustic testing, data post-processing, and evaluations.
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and lead technical programs.
- Familiarity with CFD meshing, solving, and post-processing for acoustic assessment.
- Knowledgeable of engine or aircraft aerodynamic design or test support.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Highly motivated and passionate with excellent communication skills.
