The Senior Manager of Brand Strategy and Expression is a pivotal role at Schwab, responsible for supporting the Director of Brand Strategy and Expression to ensure a cohesive Brand Expression firmwide and establishing governance to protect and enhance the Schwab Brand.

As part of the Brand Strategy team, this individual will support the implementation of the Brand architecture strategy as well as development and implementation of Brand governance strategies, managing and monitoring risks, and effectively communicating with stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting a large corporate Brand identity internally, a keen eye for design, and the ability to articulate brand objectives and effectively lead Brand initiatives across the organization, ensuring consistent brand expression across all touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with the Brand Director and senior leadership to curate a comprehensive Brand strategy that aligns with the company's vision, mission, and values.
- Proactively seek insights and learnings about our brand identity through user feedback and incorporate them into the ongoing development of our Brand and design guidelines.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of how other comparable businesses and sectors are optimizing their Brand Identity, and how we compare.
Brand Guidelines and Standards:
- Collaborate with Brand Designers to create and maintain brand guidelines, including visual identity, tone of voice, and messaging standards.
- Ensure Brand consistency across all marketing channels and customer experiences.
- Manage Brand Identity initiatives, responding to inquiries for support in product naming strategies, Sub-Brand development, and the application of brand and design guidelines.
- Provide constructive guidance on the application of the identity when reviewing work and escalate queries to senior team members when required.
- Train and educate internal teams on Brand standards and best practices.
Brand Activation:
- Oversee the creation and execution of Brand awareness initiatives.
- Actively manage our network of Brand Champions (internal and agency), leading meetings, quarterly inspiration sessions, and organizing annual agency sharing sessions.
- Work closely with the internal and external creative teams to develop compelling Brand assets and guidelines, such as logos and imagery, for all channels, including print, social, and digital.
- Support the creation and delivery of Brand and design training content, materials, and programs to colleagues, agencies, and partners across all areas of the business and global markets.
- Develop and manage internal and external communications on behalf of the Brand Identity and Content Production team, including the creation of supporting content.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of Brand initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, marketing teams, internal and external creative agencies, and external partners.
- Present Brand strategies and progress reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Serve as a point of contact for Brand-related inquiries and issues, supporting the Brand Director.
Trend Analysis and Innovation:
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in Brand management.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and enhance the Brand's presence and reputation.
- Recommend and implement new tools and technologies to improve Brand management processes.
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Design, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of corporate Brand management or agency experience.
- Highly proficient in developing Brand expression elements across various channels, including print, digital, mobile, and social.
- Demonstrable understanding of the role visual and verbal identity plays in building Brands.
- Experience working within a major Brand, developing and communicating design guidelines across multiple channels.
- Understanding and appreciation of the creative and design process, with the ability to articulate constructive feedback concisely and direction clearly.
- Experience in creating, managing, and delivering Brand and design assets, guidelines, and training content.
- Proficient in PowerPoint design and comfortable presenting to large groups both in person and on video.
- Good project and agency management skills, including writing, interpreting briefs, clarifying objectives, evaluating outcomes against the brief, reporting, and delivering work on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with content management systems, design templates, and Brand standards.
- Deep understanding and enthusiasm for web technologies, emerging design trends, and use of AI advancements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with experience influencing internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work on large-scale interactive projects, tight deadlines, and high volumes of work with geographically dispersed teams.
- The ability to collaborate across disciplines and develop partnerships with agency and marketing partners.
- A positive attitude and the flexibility to operate in an environment with deadlines and changing demands.
- A strong, well-articulated point of view (POV) and passion for the financial services industry.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A proven track record of success delivering a wide range of large and medium-scale projects.
- Experience in highly regulated environments or at a financial institution is a bonus.
