Your New Role ...

Every great story has a new beginning. Warner Bros Discovery is a premier global media and entertainment company offering audiences the world's most differentiated and complete portfolio of content, brands and franchises across television, film, sports, news, streaming and gaming. We're home to the world's best storytellers, creating world-class products for consumers. From brilliant creatives to technology trailblazers and beyond, join us as we step into the next chapter.

The U.S. Content Strategy & Analysis team leads end-to-end content analysis for the WBD Streaming org (Max and Discovery+). The team evaluates greenlights for new originals and acquisition deals, runs renewal/re-up analyses, and provides insights and recommendations to leadership as to how each piece of content might fit with our broader strategy. Once the content lands on Max, the team also leads all live & retrospective analysis on how the content is performing, leveraging data points including overall platform/industry trends, scheduling and release patterns, completion rates, and viewer segmentation/demographics. The team shapes and articulates those learnings to help improve decision-making and performance wherever possible.

Given the team's broad scope, the right candidate will be someone who loves
answering hard questions, obsesses over details, and jumps at the opportunity to take on new challenges. A love of media is also a must; content awareness & expertise will be a critical factor in the candidate's success. The role will require a high level of collaboration with partners across WBD to deliver quality work in one of the highest-priority businesses at the company.

Your Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct title-level greenlighting & renewal analyses for Streaming, developing narratives around valuation and performance insights to share with key stakeholders
  • Help stress test and improve analytical frameworks used for assessing key strategic questions across our content offering
  • Collaborate with other teams - especially Product Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Research, and Business Intelligence - to improve deliverables for key internal stakeholders across Programming, Acquisitions, Strategy, and Corporate
  • Support in the compilation and communication of content performance analyses through write-ups and presentations, often in response to ad hoc requests
  • Understand and work through the cross-platform dynamics between Streaming, Linear, and other platforms as it impacts potential outcomes for Max and Discovery+
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of media industry trends and competitive activity
  • Provide support for senior management in key presentations around content strategy, new initiatives, and major decisions

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-4 years relevant work experience, in working areas like Analytics, Consulting, Investment Banking, or Research, informing strategic & corporate initiatives. Experience in media/communications is particularly useful but not required
  • Excellent analytic skills and modeling capabilities, with a deep attention to detail
  • An ability to synthesize output from analyses, identify the "so-what", develop early hypotheses, and propose the next line of inquiry
  • Experience in building executive-level materials, with a keen eye for presentation design, and the ability to distill complex concepts and analyses into clear, easy-to-understand outputs
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity, a focus on generating results, and the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
  • A passion for entertainment, being an avid media viewer, as well as a passion for staying on top of industry trends while figuring out what the future will look like
  • A collaborative and diplomatic attitude, but also a willingness to take and defend data-and-analysis-backed positions as part of the dialogue around content selection
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience wrangling large data sets and developing analytical narratives with a broad scope of data points & data sources; a big plus includes experience writing SQL queries or Python/R scripts, or using visualization/manipulation tools like Looker, Tableau, and Microstrategy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player through & through - collaboration is constant and absolutely critical to our success

How We Get Things Done...

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
