The Managing Legal Counsel will support UKG's APAC region with all Go To Market matters and a wide range of other business and legal matters, providing expert and strategic level advice to senior leaders.
This role reports in to the global legal team and has one direct report in region. There is capacity for this role to be worked remotely from Australia.
• Provide expert and strategic legal advice to UKG's Asia Pacific senior management teams across Go To Market matters and a wide range of other business and legal matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements and other cloud service-related contracts with customers, business partners, and vendors
• Assist the Privacy and Compliance Legal teams on data privacy and security matters, determining how to apply applicable laws and regulations in the regions
• Provide some assistance to the HR team on local labor and employment law matters
• Some support of corporate and litigation matters
• Some travel will be required
• Create and update UKG agreement templates
• Provide timely support to our Sales organization and other cross-functional stakeholders, including training to such stakeholders
Strong experience practicing Australian law is required; experience in other APAC jurisdictions is a plus
• Fluent in English; other APAC languages will be considered a plus
• Strong transactional background, with at least 12 years of experience supporting high-performing sales teams in the cloud/SaaS industry or in relevant private practice negotiating, drafting, and advising clients on technology-related commercial contracts, including multi-jurisdictional transactions, software licensing, and cloud services
• Overall broad legal knowledge (commercial contracts, data privacy and security, corporate law, labor law, litigation, etc.)
• Experience managing other legal counsel and negotiators, providing mentorship and guidance on complex transactional matters
• Experience in international business environments
• Excellent judgement and analytical skills
• First class interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with a variety of levels and audiences
• Flexible, self-starter able to work in a very fast paced, changing environment while managing competing priorities
