Job Summary
As a Policy Development Lead on the eCommerce Governance team, you will own the development of policies for content and drive cross-functional projects impacting the TikTok Shop ecosystem. You will bring order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems. This role involves a deep understanding of content moderation, legal compliance, and the dynamics of online communities.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Policy Developers, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Lead the creation, implementation, and continuous refinement of content policies in line with company values, legal requirements, and community standards.
- Conduct comprehensive research on content regulations, cultural sensitivities, and emerging trends to inform policy decisions.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and content moderation teams to ensure policies meet regulatory standards and ethical considerations.
- Oversee the enforcement of content policies by working closely with content moderation teams.
- Liaise with product, engineering, and user experience teams to integrate content policies into platform features and design.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ of experience in content policy, content moderation, trust & safety, or a related field. Proven track record of developing and implementing content policies in a digital platform or social media environment.
- Strong understanding of content regulations. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues related to eCommerce.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with content moderation tools and technologies.

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $199500 - $393300 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
