The Washington Post is seeking a highly skilled Senior Billing Specialist to join our Finance Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the billing and financial processes for both print subscribers and agents, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all billing activities. You will play a key role in resolving billing discrepancies and collaborating with internal teams to provide valuable financial data and analysis.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong finance background, with the ability to prioritize tasks, plan effectively, and execute with precision. A deep understanding of complex business and individual accounts is essential, along with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with independent agents who are integral to the daily delivery of The Washington Post.

- Process daily billing for our print subscribers
- Respond promptly to inquiries from agents, call center reps and subscribers
- Create accurate and complete billing statements for agents
- Calculate and execute financial adjustments on subscriber accounts to resolve billing discrepancies
- Perform weekly analysis on client debt and withhold payments in accordance with guidelines provided
- Maintain integrity of billing files and transmissions
- Manage print subscriber write-off recovery process
- Daily maintenance of corporate aging file
- Communicate with corporate and partner accounts to assist in collection efforts
- Perform credit card chargebacks
- Open tickets with technical support team to report, test and resolve billing system issues
- Validation of new agent contract rates and recurring provisions
- Suggest, request and test enhancements to billing system to streamline and/or automate processes
- Assist in resolving General Ledger variances
- Provide monthly metrics to management
- Assist with annual internal audit requests
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 2-3 years' experience in subscription-based billing
- Knowledge of advanced Excel functionalities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, changing environment
- Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to take initiative, proactively identify issues/opportunities and recommend actions
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience with billing automation a plus
- Bachelor's degree preferred

The salary range for this position is:
48,600.00 - 73,000.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
