Job Description

The Washington Post has an opening for a full-time copy aide. This is an entry-level administrative position in The Post's newsroom. This aide will also spend about half of their time as a designated assistant to the head of the Investigative team.

The copy aide team provides general administrative support to newsroom staff. The ideal candidate should be punctual and reliable; someone who has strong communication skills and a passion for journalism; and a self-starter who takes direction well and is a team player.

Responsibilities include:
  • Sorting mail and managing printers.
  • Setting up desks for new hires and internal transfers.
  • Assisting reporters and editors with projects, research and small tasks.
  • Interacting with Post readers and subscribers via phone/email.
  • Managing daily calendar, organizing meetings, sorting mail, note-taking and inter-office communication for head of Investigative team.
  • Assist investigative reporters and editors on projects as needed.
Preferred qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of professional administrative support experience.
  • Demonstrated speed, clarity and punctuality.
  • An interest in journalism and working in a fast-paced newsroom.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom and starts at $28/hr. Some night and weekend shifts are required.
