The position will focus on the broad and comprehensive portfolio of instruments and consumables solutions for molecular diagnostic testing. From manual to automated sample preparation of nucleic acids and applications for molecular diagnostics high throughput systems for cancer diagnostics, genetic disease analysis, biomarker discovery, and infectious disease testing. In Norway, we are a team of > 270 passionate employees who care deeply about the impact of our work and have a determination to excel.

We are currently expanding our team supporting Molecular Diagnostics business and are seeking one Sr Manager, and two Application Scientists to the molecular diagnostic team. The candidates will be supporting the development of new and existing molecular diagnostic applications utilizing state of the art RNA and DNA technologies. The positions are permanent and will be based in our offices in Oslo, Norway.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides application data based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application
  • Primarily carrying out the practical elements of studies which can include: DNA and RNA extraction using manual extraction kits and or automated instruments; qPCR setup; Gel electrophoresis; Prepare samples for NGS Library preparation and/or NGS Sequencing workflows; Handling and processing of biological samples.
  • Support the planning, execution and reporting of laboratory work and experiments.
  • Conducting general maintenance and lab safety activities (equipment maintenance, consumable orders, receipt of material, lab stocking, housekeeping and similar activities). Working as part of the product development team to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

  • Seek out information and options share information, and participate in decision making and execution on the project team
  • Effectively prioritize experimental/technical execution and analysis to achieve on-time delivery; seek feedback from others when priorities are not clear, or logistical or technical challenges are encountered
  • Supports Product Managers in preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master degree Molecular Biology or Biochemistry (B.Sc. minimum, Master degree preferred).
  • Fluent in English with experience in technical communication (writing, presenting, discussing, listening).
  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques; extraction, purification and amplification of nucleic acids basic; knowledge of genomic analysis application and workflows such as qPCR and NGS; experience from proteomic and multiomics in as advantage
  • Experience with purification methods using magnetic beads, conjugation and surface chemistry is an advantage
  • Knowledge of automation, writing scripts and programming is an advantage
  • Experience with problem analysis and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience of working in the biotech industry and in a diagnostic lab is an advantage.
  • Experience in reconciling results of similar measurements by different techniques preferred.
  • Good knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
  • Able to understand the problems that our customers are trying to solve

  • Experience with customer-facing projects and scientific communication; creation and delivery of presentations of data and marketing materials and in obtaining customer feedback.
  • Motivated by collaboration; attention to other people and inter-cultural awareness.
  • Goal-oriented with good track record of achieving targets on time.
  • Good IT literacy; familiarity with file transfer, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally, sometimes at short notice. Expect up to approx. 20% travel over a year.
