Location/Division Specific Information

The Manufacturing Engineering Engineer II will play a critical role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Electrical Fault Analysis (EFA) business unit located in Richardson Texas. Our factories produce low-volume, high complexity analytical products for semiconductor designers and manufacturers to use in the creation and improvement of their products and manufacturing processes.

How will you make an impact?

You will be part of a diverse team responsible for the successful introduction of new products into the factory and field. You will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of products and the processes used for manufacturing and service. This role collaborates closely with the Product Lifecyle Management, Product Marketing, New Product Development, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality, Finance, and Global Technical Support groups to ensure the development of sustainable products according to the latest quality standards, at lowest COGS. Throughout the lifecycle of our products, the Operations Engineering team implements quality, cost, and process improvements to increase customer satisfaction.

What will you do?

  • Define requirements for manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability, software, test and diagnostics (TAD)
  • Collaborate closely with R&D to drive service and factory requirements in all phases of the Product Management Process (PMP)
  • Create test, assembly, installation, and service procedures
  • Define and integrate factory and service test equipment
  • Train Manufacturing, Factory Support, and Service personnel
  • Support engineering change orders - Bill of Material (BOM), Work Instruction, and process revisions
  • Resolve issues in the factory or field with short-term and long-term corrective actions
  • Use Thermo Fisher Scientific's Practical Process Improvement (PPI) tools to lead or facilitate productivity, scrap reduction, process improvement, and cost improvement projects
  • Influence EFA Operations Engineering strategy

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in high-tech industry environment
  • Skilled in effectively managing and maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience with FMEA, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and Design of Experiments
  • Proven track record in effectively managing projects related to new product introduction and collaboration across various teams.
  • Experience in bringing technology solutions to improving the quality, efficiency, and cost of manufacturing and service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of key technologies including vacuum, motion control, process automation, optics, and material selection
  • Achieves results with decisiveness and engineering judgment, even under difficult situations
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and goal setting
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required
