The Senior Specialist supports our mission by ensuring compliant, timely, and efficient movement of imports and exports. The position will demonstrate strong customer service skills in order to complete routine trade compliance transactions and raise exceptions to leadership as needed. There are a wide variety of activities involved in this position requiring excellent organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a fast paced environment. A high degree of flexibility to respond to changing priorities is important. Working both independently and collaborating with other functions is a requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay up-to-date on pertinent regulations and respond accordingly to update all affected functions, personnel, and the applicable leadership teams affected by changes.
  • Daily monitoring of site export and import shipments to improve the customer experience, resolve any transaction concerns as needed.
  • Assist Sr. GTC Manager in the development and implementation of local compliance policies specific to trade compliance changes due to current and future Brexit legislation and EU policy changes.
  • Support GTC leadership with process, strategic and transactional issues as needed.
  • Build and maintain filing systems to handle transactional records while meeting government and corporate record retention requirements.
  • Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including senior management, supply chain, logistics, sales, project management, finance, HR, IT and legal.
  • Perform screening activities for proposed export transactions, suppliers, site visits, and documenting the screening as evidence of due diligence.
  • Assist GTC Manager with the management of all applicable databases containing dual use and tariff classifications.
  • Apply for and coordinate annual reporting for all required licenses, permits and approvals for export transactions to include General Export and Individual Export licenses where applicable.
  • Provide required import/export information to customs brokers and forwarders to ensure accurate clearance of imports, exports and other aspects of trade compliance.
  • Work with suppliers, vendors, and clients to ensure they understand and abide by legal requirements for accurate importing and exporting clearance.
  • Conduct periodic import/export clearance document audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Consistent track record in global trade, supply chain, international operations and/or logistics over a 5+ year period.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Skills for research and investigative work.
  • Self-starter with outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret various government regulations.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%
