About the Internship
The Aviation Department established the Airport Operations Centers (AOC) at LGA, JFK and EWR, serving to align our major Port Authority aviation facilities, with internationally recognized global best practices, in airport operations management. The Aviation Department's goal of creating and establishing Airport Operation Centers is to provide operational situational awareness, including but not limited to, events and/or incidents affecting daily activity Landside, Airside or within the Central Terminal Area (CTA). The AOC promotes collaborative decision making amongst all necessary stakeholders allows all involved, to share consistent and timely information, allowing those stakeholders to assess and manage normal day-to-day operations as well as unplanned events and incidents, as effectively as possible. The AOC is responsible for coordinating multiple resources and focusing on the entire airport impact and restoration of operations caused by a single or multiple factors.

Responsibilities
- Help prepare briefings and reports for senior LGA AOC staff, sharing important operational information.
- Assist with the documentation and record-keeping of operational events, delays, incidents, and other significant occurrences.
- Support in gathering data for performance analysis, such as operational efficiency, customer service metrics, and flight performance.
- Assist in maintaining logs for daily airport operations, including flight information, delays, and incidents.
- Help in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports, including operational efficiency and flight performance analysis.
- Input operational data into systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness for analysis and review.
- Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Preparation and Management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
Desired Qualifications
- A strong passion for the aviation industry, with a desire to learn more about the operations of an airport.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with different departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic environment where changes happen rapidly, and tasks can shift depending on operational needs (such as during emergencies, weather delays, etc.).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and flexibility to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously is key to this role.
- Perform various data analyses using statistical programs (Power-Bi)
- Interpret the statistical and data findings and provide conclusions.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- The format is expected to be in-person

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
