Job Description

Position Summary

Compliance Officers for the Driver Licensing Unit will be responsible Conduct field audits and investigations of licensed Professional Driving School facilities and instructors. Responsible for visiting licensed schools at least, two times per year ensuring all equipment (including instructional vehicles), classroom facilities, and PDS ATLAS/Portal maintenance meets Professional Driving School policy requirements. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all other legal requirements, prohibitions and policies enforced by the Registry of Motors Vehicles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts at least two annual on-site field audits and compliance reviews for compliance of all legal requirements, prohibitions and policies enforced by the Registry of Motors Vehicles pertaining to professional driving schools and instructors.
  • Investigates agency and consumer complaints regarding suspected or alleged violations of the legal requirements, prohibitions and policies enforced by the Registry of Motors Vehicles pertaining to professional driving schools and instructors.
  • Assists the Program Manager with consumer level mediation and dispute resolution through interviews. Acts as a liaison between professional driving schools and consumers.
  • Conducts site assessments of professional driving schools for compliance with initial application requirements.
  • Assists the Program Manager in coordinating and conducting training and industry outreach presentations to professional driving school providers regarding operator licensing, vehicle equipment requirements and compliance as well as ATLAS/PDS Portal use, maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Assists the Program Manager with documentation, reports, and testimony necessary for conducting investigative and/or disciplinary hearings.
  • Comply with all Mass DOT/RMV standards, work-place operating policies and procedures.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge and use of the ATLAS system and their functions pertaining to the PDS compliance process.
  • Report any issues directly to manager and/or supervisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for the required experience. *

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
