Department Overview
The Canadian Personal Banking Vendor Management Office (CPB VMO) is responsible for
best-in-class vendor management oversight and governance for vendor engagements within Canadian Personal Banking, Credit Cards, Real Estate Secured Lending as well as critical vendor relationships that we manage at the Enterprise level. Our responsibilities include robust assessment of vendor risks, adherence to regulatory/compliance policies and controls, expense management and payments, and ongoing vendor relationship management.
The Vendor Performance Management Team supports financial expense management and reporting for a diverse group of vendor management professionals for an array of vendors, delivering financial analysis, invoice reconciliation, expense reporting while supporting contract negotiations, RFP analysis, Project, and Business case analysis.
Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team to support day-to-day activities such as financial management and reporting and analytics. Reporting to the Manager, Vendor Performance Management, the Vendor Performance Analyst will have the opportunity to work within a multi-functional, energetic, team-oriented environment to support a diverse group of vendor management professionals, partners, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on new challenges in supporting the development of performance metrics & performance management models for existing and new vendor relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for vendor invoice reconciliation/analysis for North American vendors supporting all Lines of Business including Canadian Personal Banking, Real Estate Secured Lending, and Credit Cards, Payments, Loyalty and Personal Lending.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual plans/forecasts; working closely with the Line of Business Finance teams to deliver.
- Analyze vendor financial performance, conduct variance reconciliation, and provide meaningful insights and commentary.
- Contribute to the review of internal processes and identify operational efficiency opportunities.
- Work with vendor managers, project teams and stakeholders to develop financial estimates for business cases, contract negotiations, and ad hoc analysis.
- Develop solid and effective working relationships with Business Unit leadership team, Finance partners and other stakeholders by providing value added analysis, guidance and/or operational finance support.
- Manage day-to-day inquiries from project and product teams and other Stakeholders related to the vendor pricing/spending.
- Act as a knowledge leader for each area's accountabilities and performance. Create and deliver ad-hoc analyses, special projects/reports and training as required to aid partner understanding.
- Participate fully as a member of the team and contribute to a positive work environment that encourages productivity, professionalism, and teamwork.
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in business.
- 4+ years of experience in a business or banking environment.
- Previous experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis. Experience supporting Vendor Manager preferred.
- Experience in dealing with 3rd party vendors would be an asset.
- Experience using financial reporting systems (e.g., Macros, Tableau, and PowerBI).
- Highly proficient in MS Excel.
- Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities.
- Proven track record and experience in leading continuous improvement or process improvement projects and initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive self-starter with abilities to work both independently and with a team.
- Must be able to think conceptually ("out-of-the-box") and have a high degree for attention to detail.
- Proficient in time management and demonstrated adaptability when changes are required.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment.
- Strong comfort level in presenting to executives.
- Ability to proactively follow up on identified issues and work toward resolution.
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and professionalism when dealing with various partners.
