Department Overview:
The Wealth & Insurance Finance department has accountability for the major financial functions of TDBG's Wealth Management and Insurance businesses, providing business planning, financial measurement and analysis, valuation, and risk assessment services.
Job Description:
The Manager Finance, Wealth & Insurance reports to the Senior Manager Finance, Wealth & Insurance, and will be involved in preparation of a wide range of ad-hoc deliverables, as well as reporting, forecasting and planning activities, as needed. This would include the preparation and analysis of monthly management reporting, preparation of quarterly forecasts and ad-hoc analysis to support segment CFOs and Business Heads of Wealth & Insurance
- End-to-end oversight of the monthly reporting processes including coordinating all downstream activities (ensuring that the various Wealth and Insurance Finance teams adhere to timelines, Hyperion/EPM accurately reflects plan/forecasts data etc.), timely and high-quality completion of all upstream deliverables to internal stakeholders
- Preparation of executive-level decks for monthly/ quarterly results, executive off-sites, MOR materials, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to "tell the story"
- Presentation of financial results to segment CFOs on a monthly basis, and responding to specific questions. Potential opportunities to present to the Business Heads, as needed
- Support preparation of quarterly external reporting deliverables such as the Management Discussion & Analysis and Investor Relations deliverables
- Providing guidance and oversight to financial analysts on the team and conducting first-level review of output.
- Responsible for reporting analytics work - this would include variance bridges, continuities and any ad hoc requests, including from segment CFOs and/or Business Heads
- Ability to take a critical view of P&L & drivers, identify issues/inconsistencies and escalate accordingly
- Assist with quarterly forecasting and plan deliverables, and medium term outlook if/as required
- Develop and maintain good relationships with Wealth & Insurance Finance colleagues, business partners, and other finance and corporate partners across the bank.
- Effectively communicate relevant and meaningful recommendations on a range of finance management issues or related operational processes.
- Act as subject matter expert for own area. Provide guidance, advice, and recommendations to support dealings with internal and external partners.
- Accountable for process documentation for all management reporting processes and models including business drivers
- Participate in pan-Wealth & Insurance activities, promote team effectiveness and contribute to a positive work environment
Job Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business partners including senior executives.
- Strong leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal) with proven ability push back and/or facilitate decision making
- Strong understanding of financial accounting processes and internal control structures
- Experience evaluating business issues, identifying potential solutions and implementing action to resolve issues
- Detail oriented while still able to synthesize issues and present concise concepts and solutions
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS SharePoint, Hyperion and EPM would be an asset.
Specific Education and Accreditation requirements
- University/College education with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business
- CPA, CFA or relevant professional certifications, accounting designations considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in finance
