Position Overview
The AVP, Payments Client Solutions in TD Securities will lead the Client Solutions, Business Planning, and Industry Relations Management for TDS Payments. This role will serve as the lead for working with the TDS businesses, enterprise partners, and various Financial Market Infrastructures to identify and plan for the development of client payment solutions and payment standards across TDS globally.
The incumbent requires a deep understanding of payment operations and processing in a multinational financial institution. In this role, they will support our business partners by providing insights on industry standards and technology shaping the payments landscape as well as assessing and addressing client payment needs and pain points across the TDS global footprint.
TD Securities culture is founded in collaboration with a focus on people. The AVP will be responsible to ensure this culture is maintained throughout Payments Operations. The incumbent will be the executive who represents the team throughout TD Securities and the broader TD Bank.
Accountabilities
- In partnership with the business, identify and ensure that defined client opportunities related to payment and deposit capabilities are included in the Payment and Deposit Solutions capability set and roadmap by working with the Payments Solutions team
- Collaborate with business to identify Client retention challenges, and work with Payment Solutions to create business capabilities on the roadmap that will mitigate these challenges
- Collaborate with business other TDS teams on Deposit platform strategy, in particular regarding replacement of the legacy multi-currency IDAPS ledger app
- Develop and manage a set of business metrics and KPIs related to the overall Payments Services group
- Lead special projects related to the TDS - AMCB Joint Venture
- Manage and oversee the financial health of the broader payments organization to help identify cost reduction and revenue growth opportunities for payments
- Represent TDS and the Payment teams at committees and liaise with the enterprise Payments and to align and support on strategy with TDS impacts.
- Acts as the primary interface to the various FMI (Financial Market Infrastructures) with which TDS interacts from a payments perspective including acting as TD and/or Canadian FI representative on groups like the Swift CNMG (Canadian National member Group) and global Swift PUG (Platform User Group)
- Provide advice, guidance, and direction to stakeholders as it relates to FMI requirements, industry trends or needs
- Represent TDS in appropriate industry forums (e.g. RWPS (Resiliency of Wholesale Payment Systems) program under auspices of the Bank of Canada)
- In partnership with internal stakeholders, provides advice regarding client servicing and communications needs as it relates to payments
- Oversee the help desk / client support function teams to support ad-hoc inbound payments related queries
- Identify and advise on client servicing risks and work with Payments Operations and Payments Solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Own internal and external comms related to any Payment outages for TDS working closely with Payment Ops line managers

- Proven ability in leveraging process automation and simplification to build teams capable of using these capabilities.
- Relevant industry knowledge around regulatory requirements, data governance and standards, with a focus on lending risk
- Strong People Leadership skills with demonstrated experience in leading high performing, diverse teams
- Demonstrated relationship building skills, with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of positive influence
- Strong agile development and product development capabilities and experience
Education & Experience
Education/Accreditations:
- University or college degree
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- 10-15 years experience in lending
- Strong people management skills and ability to motivate and drive a team to deliver their goals
- Business focused with an understanding of operational workflows
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team in a dynamic, time sensitive environment
