The pay range is $54,800.00 - $98,600.00

A role with Business Partnerships & Negotiations (BP&N) means supporting Merchandising in developing the best possible deals for Target through strategic partnerships and vendor negotiations. Here, you'll work with buyers on contract terms and vendor organizations to set strategies that get the maximum value for Target. Your analytics expertise and strategic thinking will be used to position Target and its vendors for the most productive and successful partnerships.
The Vendor Income Expert (VIE) is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Target's Vendor Income (VI) process and strategy, customized to a business category. Vendor Income is a critical component of margin results, profitability, and promotional effectiveness. As a VIE, you will help devise, influence, and execute the VI strategy for the business(s) you support. You will work closely with Target partners across Finance, Negotiations, and Merch, as well as vendors. With the authority to approve vendor income agreements on behalf of Target, you will be accountable for financial results and best operational practices. The Vendor Income Expert is a key business consultant to Merchant Divisional Merchandise Managers (DMMs), Buyers, Negotiation Leads, Finance/Merchandise Finance (MFA) Partners, and Vendors. In this role, you will report to the Sr. Manager, Vendor Income Operations.
Some additional duties and responsibilities include leading the development of best practices for vendor income strategy and processes for total Target, while applying business acumen and insight to identify gaps and customize for a defined business category (division +). You will develop a deep understanding of and influence merchant business strategies, objectives, and outcomes. You will synthesize best practices with deep business context, financial analytics, and negotiation expertise to drive vendor specific solutions. Cross-functional partnership is critical in this role; some of your cross-functional partners will be with Finance/MFA, BP&N, and external vendors. Your strong partnership will drive accountability to vendor income strategies and the execution of those strategies. You will leverage strong critical thinking and communication skills to support, implement, and train best practices within the vendor income process. You will be responsible for proactively identifying risks, opportunities; while escalating, recommending solutions, and action plans to DMM and VP BP&N as necessary. Employing business knowledge, while documenting critical vendor income agreement details within the contractual system, will be a crucial part of your role.

• Four-year degree or equivalent work experience in merchandising, analytics, or finance
• 0-2 years of relevant experience, specifically in merchandising, analytics, or finance
• Demonstrated ability to create and execute to strategic plans and priorities
• Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information and collect appropriate primary data
• Ability to apply intuition and experience to draw implications
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maximize relationships
• Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit with strong analytical, decision-making, project management, planning, and organizational skills
• Previous experience with change management, vendor relationships, and negotiations, preferred

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
