JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining and cultivating relationships with third party organizations outside of the company, and working with those organizations to develop support for Charter's policy priorities. Familiarity with policy and regulatory issues of importance to Charter is essential, along with a willingness to thoroughly understand those issues and educate third party organizations. Close internal coordination with other business and government affairs units within the Company as necessary to ensure that the impact of company decisions are properly communicated to third parties, and third party concerns are shared with the Company. This role will report to SVP, Federal Affairs.

Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Maintain and cultivate relationships with third party partners.

Work collaboratively with third party partners to educate and cultivate support for Charter's federal and state policy interests.

Develop and execute strategy designed to motivate third parties to inform policymakers (including lawmakers, regulators and thought leaders) of policy positions supported by the Company.

Build Charter's reputation and further the Company's policy goals, through participation in third party events.

Working with Company business, government affairs and legal units to understand the Company's position on policy, regulatory and legal issues in order to create and execute strategy for communicating those positions effectively to third party partners.

Develop and draft supporting materials and documentation for third party partners to better communicate the Company's position on various policy issues.

Prepare and present the Company's position on certain policy issues at public events.

Coordinate with the Company's Communications team as needed to support advocacy with third party partners and overall communications for the Company.

Perform other duties as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure

Ability to analyze and interpret legislation, regulation, contracts, and legal documents

Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.).

Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance and operate with integrity and within company values; maintain high standards for ethical practice

Ability to work independently, but also to collaborate effectively with colleagues, peers and other internal and external constituencies

Knowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products and services, and experience working with regulated industries

Political/government relations background

Understanding of state and local government

Required Education
Bachelor's degree

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Strategic communication experience - 7+
External affairs experience - 7+

Experience in the cable or other regulated industry, government, public policy, or legislative arenas - 7+

Background in law, government, or public policy

Preferred Education
Graduate degree a plus, but not required

A qualified applicant's criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $190,100.00 and $316,700.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
