This is an exciting opportunity within the EH&S function at RTX Corporate office. The Director, Remediation will develop and direct RTX's Environmental Remediation Program. Required experience includes leading and continued development of a team of professionals, setting goals and tracking/reporting on their progress, and ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate policies. Scope of activities is corporate-wide (domestic and foreign) as this group is a Center of Excellence for the Corporation.
What You Will Do
- Directs development and implementation of strategic initiatives to improve Corporate-wide remediation efforts and performance and to ensure that remediation risks/liabilities are addressed and minimized to the extent possible.
- Oversees management of the Corporation's entire remediation portfolio which includes remediation sites and projects for all RTX business units. All aspects of these projects, including financial, are managed by a centralized corporate group reporting to this role.
- Analyzes the portfolios on a quarterly basis and communicates short- and long-term remediation portfolio risks to each business unit to ensure that senior management fully understands the risks and their potential impact on financial performance. Directs the development of, and receives approval for, Annual Remediation Spend Plans for each business unit. Ensures each business unit understands the impacts of the planned spend on Cash Flow.
- Leads significant acquisition and/or divestiture due diligence projects initiated by Corporate Strategy. Ensures that due diligence is performed in accordance with RTX policy and that all material EH&S risks, and/or data gaps, are identified and communicated to management to ensure that the business understands the level of financial risks associated with the potential transaction.
- Coordinates with business unit EH&S teams during the integration process immediately following the successful acquisition of a target company. Ensures appropriate post-closing due diligence efforts are conducted to ensure Purchase Cost Accounting Reserves are established for identified remediation and FIN 47 issues.
- Develops and maintains adequate financial procedures and controls to ensure that remediation financial reserves fully comply with applicable requirements of FASB and the RTX Financial Manual. Prepare for and address all questions incurred during periodic financial audits conducted by the Corporation's auditors.
- Establishes annual remediation metrics and goals and reports the Corporation's remediation efforts and performance to Senior Management.
- Implements and directs a comprehensive Remediation Supplier Management Program. Manages supplier base to a short-list of companies. Ensures fair contracting practices and a fair consultant selection process. Administers Remediation Group budget.
- Represent RTX's interests through active participation in external communications with various organizations such as regulatory authorities, trade associations and professional groups, as necessary.
- Must be willing to travel 20% of the time, domestically and internationally.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in developing strategies for complex environmental investigation and remediation projects, overseeing EH&S due diligence (acquisition and divestiture) strategies, assuring adequacy of the Corporation's remediation reserves, administering the Master Services Agreements with the Group's supplier base, providing appropriate input for SEC reporting, and partnering with the legal team in support of remediation related matters.
- Applicant must have the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with their team and all levels of management along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related field, along with a well-developed understanding of remediation issues, risk management, community relations, and management systems. An advanced degree in any related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 14+ years diverse experience in environmental remediation is required, a significant portion of which must be a senior leadership position with a proven track-record.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements.

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
