Paperless Post is seeking an analytical, data-driven Associate Director, Lifecycle Marketing to join our small, results-oriented Growth Marketing team. This person should be both technical and creative and will play a key role in building an outstanding customer experience through lifecycle marketing strategies and channels. In this role, you will manage, optimize and grow our email program, develop promotional strategies and support additional owned channels, such as personalized onsite messaging, and in the future, referrals and loyalty programs as we continue to grow.
The ideal candidate is a proactive collaborator and creative problem solver who values efficiency and is driven to continually find ways to optimize and improve performance. You will rely on data and testing to find new ways to drive increased user value. You should also have experience in building marketing plans and communications that generate strong engagement and retention.

The role will report to the VP, Growth Marketing and oversee an Email Campaign Manager. This role is hybrid, working twice a week in our NYC office, so we are looking for a local candidate.
What you’ll do here:
- Develop a CRM strategy to optimize the customer journey and execute high-impact initiatives that drive consumer acquisition, retention, engagement and loyalty (in partnership with the Product, Content, Merchandising and Brand Creative).
- Develop comprehensive email marketing strategies and testing roadmaps tailored to audience segments and lifecycle stages, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Product on onsite segmentation work (e.g. homepage segmentation) and building a system to connect personalized experiences on and offsite to drive retention, upsell and cross sell to our addressable audience.
- Establish benchmarks, analyze campaign results, and continuously improve messaging, targeting, and ROI through iterative testing and data-driven insights. Share insights with Brand, Creative and Leadership teams to optimize future efforts.
- Lead one direct report, manage external resources, and identify opportunities for automation to streamline processes, while consistently improving existing workflows.
- Oversee day-to-day email (and in the future, push) operations, from strategy and segmentation to execution, coding, QA, and reporting including managing and owning the Email Service Provider (ESP) on all related functions.
- Become the expert of our internal email attribution models, deeply understanding the nuances between email-only vs cross-channel, and develop a clear POV on the most effective measurement sources for testing, optimization, and channel scaling.
- Collaborate with engineering and insights teams on optimizing users inbox experience, planning marketing emails, event management messaging, and user surveys holistically.
Requirements include:
- 6+ years in CRM/lifecycle marketing, including 4+ years editing HTML
- Expertise with Sailthru (Marigold) through at least 3+ years of day-to-day experience in the tool
- Strong track record in driving business success through targeted, insights-driven messaging.
- Data-driven, with the ability to analyze and translate performance metrics into actionable insights.
- A proactive and accountable hands-on leader with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve creatively.
- Expertise in email marketing tools and automation, with a deep understanding of technical requirements.
- Proficient in data integration and the technical setup needed for email automation.
- Experience in audience segmentation, targeting, and A/B testing to drive business growth.
- Up-to-date knowledge of email marketing regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).

- Experience with Looker or other BI analytics tools
- Experience with ESP migrations
- Experience in high-growth startups or product-led companies
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related fields, though relevant experience is more important.

The compensation range for this role is $120,000 - 140,000 USD.
At Paperless Post, compensation is based on a number of factors, including geographic location, job-related skills, years of experience, and internal team banding. All full-time offer packages come with a base salary, equity component, and options for fully paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
