Overview
The AVP Enterprise Data Products & Portfolio is responsible for managing and optimizing the portfolio of enterprise data products at Navy Federal Credit Union. This role drives the strategy, development, and execution of data products to enhance member experiences and promote data-driven decision making and innovation by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data initiatives are aligned with business objectives, effectively prioritized, and executed while managing risk and measuring value through defined KPIs and KRIs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the enterprise data product portfolio, ensuring alignment with Navy Federal's overall business strategy and objectives
- Lead the implementation of data strategies that leverage analytics to drive business value and enhance member experiences
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry to ensure data products align with industry best practices and enhance competitive positioning
- Manage the Enterprise Data & Analytic portfolio roadmap and oversee the identification of opportunities to derive member value from enterprise data and analytics and drive its realization by managing the lifecycle of relevant data products from creative design-thinking ideation to delivery and ongoing lifecycle management; to ensure they evolve with business needs and market trends
- Develop strategies to drive adoption and usage of Enterprise data products and analytic capabilities
- Apply agile methodologies to drive efficient and effective product delivery, including lean portfolio management
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, data infrastructure, data product innovation trends to integrate into strategic planning and execution
- Define and manage product value and risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and alignment with business objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across business and technology domains to ensure alignment and successful integration of data product roadmaps with broader organizational initiatives
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, manage expectations, and keep informed about product developments and performance
- Partner with engineering and governance teams to establish planning, delivery, and lifecycle processes, procedures, standards, and service level objectives with KPI scorecards and dashboards for the Enterprise Data Portfolio intake, requirements, planning, and execution to monitor end to end performance and risks
- Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing team of Portfolio Managers, Product Managers, and Product Value-Realization Consultants
- Own and manage operating budgets for the Enterprise Data Products & Portfolio team
- Perform supervisory and managerial responsibilities, including establishing clear goals and priorities, and proactively identifying and addressing emerging challenges
- Perform other duties as assigned, including acting as substitute for VP in the incumbent's absence

Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Business, Economics, Finance, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
- 10+ years of diverse and progressive professional experience and leadership roles, including 5+ years in large credit unions, retail banking, or commercial banking institutions
- Extensive experience in product management and strategic leadership within a data-driven environment
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-wide data initiatives with hands-on experience managing with large data product portfolios and/or large-scale data enablement initiatives (data warehouses, data lakes, data/analytic platform migration) with proven ability to deliver value-driven results
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex data concepts, including benefits and risks associated with data products, to diverse technical and non-technical audiences through advanced skills to drive agreeable exchange and reach positive outcomes through influence, negotiation, and persuasion
- In-depth knowledge of agile methodologies, change management, cloud infrastructure, data architecture, and emerging technologies in the financial services industry
- Broad knowledge and experience with key aspects of data product lifecycle management, including planning, design, prototyping, testing, validation, deployment, monitoring, maintenance and retirement
- Strong understanding of data risk management (governance, quality, access management) and portfolio/program resource planning (budgets, expenses, forecasts, unit cost analytics, return on investments)
- Strong ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, communicate and apply government and financial industry regulations, related principles and practices, and company instructions, procedures and policies
- Ability to develop and implement effective Process Risk & Controls Inventory, perform adequate Risk & Controls Self-Assessment, and effectively remediate findings from internal auditors and external examiners
- Extensive experience in progressively responsible positions demonstrating the ability to build, launch, lead teams of product managers/owners, establish organizational objectives and individual performance standards, and effectively manage to those objectives and standards
Desired Qualifications
- Master's in Business, Economics, Finance, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
- 15+ years of diverse and progressive professional experience and leadership roles with 10+ years in large credit unions, retail banking or commercial banking institutions
- Advanced certification in product ownership and/or product management
- Advanced certifications in project management and/or agile methodologies
- Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives
