The Know Your Customer (KYC) Office is an AML function under Financial Crimes, embedded within the Firm's business line. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risk issues associated with higher risk client types. The WM and U.S. Banks Financial Crimes Risk Team is considered the first line of defense and appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Morgan Stanley, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and leverage quantitative drivers and assumptions to forecast headcount projections; effectively track actuals in comparison to forecast
- Assist budget development based on forecast headcount projections; effectively track actuals in comparison to forecast
- Create reports and presentations involving capacity planning / forecasting, workforce management, and financial performance for KYC Office management and senior leader consumption
- Establish capability and effectively partner with and track resource allocations with consistency across multiple teams / departments
- Set and monitor key performance indicators and success criteria across teams; analyze indicators to identify variances, opportunities, and areas for escalation
- Support location strategy efforts and overall people strategy, including departmental employee engagement
- Execute on strategic initiatives and support efforts that drive a cohesive and holistic strategy across teams
Required Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and visualization and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau or Microsoft Power BI) for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to apply forecasting techniques to determine headcount projections and establish pro forma budgets
- Pragmatic problem-solver and forward thinker with thought leadership, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and resourcefulness
- Detail oriented, with proven ability to understand, question and identify opportunities within existing operational processes and business practices by leveraging previous experiences and knowledge of the business
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), build strong relationships, and negotiate and influence decisions
- Comfortable presenting to and interfacing with senior personnel, including on highly sensitive issues
- Superior organizational and time management skills, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple and concurrent priorities while working independently or with little supervision, with flexibility and under tight deadlines
- Self-motivated team player with strong leadership qualities, a sense of ownership and accountability to deliver work products with quality, and high integrity
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of risk management, compliance, control, and/or audit experience in a bank or financial services institute with a demonstrated record of success and/or growth
- Experience performing capacity planning and/or budget management activities
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or related field
Additional Skills Desired:
- Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering regulatory requirements and expectations (domestic and international); certified as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license is a plus
