Meta's Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) team is actively looking for a network engineer to help us build out infrastructure which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. We are a team of engineers who enable the development of Meta technologies and infrastructure by delivering network solutions, providing end to end testing, and helping customers accelerate their impact by leveraging a best-in-class lab environment.
Network Engineer, Engineering R&D Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally to design, plan, deploy, and manage wired and wireless network infrastructure in labs
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and issue resolution of applications, devices and network elements across end-to-end testbeds during test and validation campaigns
- Track and control lab utilization (physical space, rack usage, devices under test)
- recommend solutions to support future deployments
- Innovate and automate new capabilities across end-to-end testbeds in controlled lab environments, especially to improve auto-remediation
- Perform system maintenance including hardware and software upgrades, migrations, capacity upgrades, and de-commissioning
- Provide support and consultation to internal teams who utilize wired and wireless network infrastructure to test and validate new products
- Maintain active communication with stakeholders on site events like power outages and disaster preparedness tests
- Proactively contribute to and maintain technical and training documentation. Define, maintain and optimize Method of Procedures for Lab operations
- Collaborate across multi-functional groups and learn and adapt to changing requirements. Communicate effectively with partners, vendors, project managers, network, software, and hardware engineers.
- Understand safety and security compliance standards for labs and assist in identifying non compliance

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of experience responsible for designing, deploying and operating wireline and wireless networks
- Experience gathering infrastructure requirements, working in a multi-vendor environment to develop architecture and solutions to build out lab and research and development environments.
- Experience leading the development and execution of tests, data collection & results reporting.
- Experience in a coding/scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting etc. along with knowledge in code repository solutions
- Experience using data visualization tools to create dashboards and drive decision making. Uses complex SQL queries and Python to create data pipelines to manipulate large datasets from multiple sources
- Hands-on experience designing, configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting wireless networks including Wi-Fi & bluetooth connectivity
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS) and experience with IPv4 and IPv6
- Understanding of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling, space, power, and cooling
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against mission critical deadlines
- Experience working in a global team environment and solving problems with limited supervision
- Network test and automation experience leveraging CI/CD, templates, audit pipelines, zero touch deployments and tooling
- Experience working other wireless technologies such as 4G and 5G cellular networks in the RAN and core domains
- Understanding of mobile operating systems (Android, iOS) and debugging tool (e.g. ADB)
- Understanding of operation principles of USB2 and USB3 and engineering considerations for coexistence with BlueTooth and WiFi systems
- Hands-on experience with specialized test equipment in engineering labs
- Understanding of HW development device life cycle (prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT) and promotion criteria

$133,000/year to $190,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
