About the Team:
The Medidata GNOC Team provides critical, round-the-clock service availability monitoring, pre-emptive and immediate incident responses and additional IT service offerings for internal customers.
We are looking for a experienced SRE engineer to join our Operations Team, providing critical, round-the-clock service availability monitoring and incident response, while also developing tools and utilities to enhance operational efficiency. You will offer the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, expanding your expertise in troubleshooting and automation across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will be proactive, responsible, and eager to expand their development and troubleshooting expertise across multiple platforms in a dynamic, high-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Medidata platform, networks, systems, storage, data centers, and AWS environments within a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center.
- Provide timely, pre-emptive, and immediate incident response to meet or exceed SLAs and SLOs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues, manage faults, and deliver event notifications.
- Develop internal applications, automation tools and utilities for more efficient monitoring, operations and incident response to support our data centers and managed services clients.
- Own end-to-end incident management, ensuring prompt resolution and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for automation and reduce recurring incidents.
- Mentor and guide junior team members through technical support and training.
Competencies:
- Strong expertise in Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems.
- Experience with cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Sumologic, Sysdig, and SolarWinds is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python), with a focus on automation.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server), including query optimization and stored procedures.
- Experience with DevOps best practices and programming (C# preferred, React is a plus).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with excellent project management capabilities.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and incident documentation.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in large data centers resolving operational issues.
- Proven experience developing and supporting applications on Windows, Linux, and ECS/Kubernetes platforms.
- Familiarity with programming language, automation and monitoring tools.
This role combines operational excellence with development support, making it essential to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of IT services.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $70,125-$93,500.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
