Overview

Vice President, Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping Mastercard's strategy and accelerating its execution across APEMEA markets. This position demands exceptional stakeholder management and strategic acumen, as the individual will orchestrate complex, high-stakes projects that require seamless collaboration with various business units and regions. The role involves identifying and testing new growth opportunities, overseeing region-led M&A pipeline, and helping develop comprehensive strategic plans. A part of APEMEA Strategy & Business Excellence team, this function offers exposure to the most critical strategic challenges Mastercard faces, providing a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

About the Role

Proactively identify and drive opportunities for growth, improvement or transformation in APEMEA regions, with a deep understanding of market dynamics and competitive landscapes.

Regionalize Mastercard's global strategy and assist APEMEA regions and Global business units to accelerate its execution consistently across our markets

Support and lead cross-functional strategic projects from defining complex problem statements to developing and executing robust plans, often under tight deadlines and high pressure.

Drive transformative change and help define and scale new business models by partnering closely with diverse teams across business units and regions

Drive and develop executive level strategy documents

Unlock the potential of a high performing team, build followership and systematically develop enterprise talent

About You

Proven track record of leading high-stakes strategic projects with significant impact, demonstrating an ability to navigate and influence at the highest levels of the organization.

A problem-solver with an analytical mindset, capable of cutting through noise and complexity to deliver clear, actionable insights.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional and cross-regional teams without direct reporting lines, showcasing strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Proven ability to influence various senior stakeholders and drive substantial change, requiring excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Quick to adapt to new topics and projects, comfortable juggling multiple high-priority initiatives concurrently.

Deep knowledge of the payments industry is a strong plus, as is a background in consulting or experience in an in-house corporate strategy role.

Curiosity and eagerness to learn about all aspects of Mastercard, including product, finance, and technology, to drive informed strategic decisions.

Politically savvy collaborator and consensus builder with a track record of bringing people together around a common cause

Highly developed presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, both verbal and written

Resilient and able to work through ambiguity

A self-starter who can set challenging and meaningful goals for the team and deliver tangible results in a fast-paced environment

Has ability to foster a positive team culture, to help us continually learn, share knowledge, challenge one another to improve our sales operations and customer experience
