The Alternative Funds Management (\"AFM\") Team is one component of the broader AIG platform, positioned within the Private Bank's Wealth Management Investment Solutions. Join our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality products that resonate with clients.

As a Vice President in the Alternatives Fund Management team, you will serve as a primary point of contact for the AFM India team for our internal partners and stakeholders. The team is primarily based in Mumbai and interacts with global counterparts based in New York and London. In this position, you will be responsible for providing fund management coverage for our suite of Alternatives offerings for the Global Private Bank.

  • Onboarding of new funds through the review of fund offering materials, fund bank account opening, setup with the fund administrators, and preparation of fund budgets.
  • Review and sign off of fund NAV packages, associated financials and investor allocations, cash management, review of unaudited/audited financial statements and ensure accurate &timely filing of tax returns and compliance with tax regulations
  • Oversee and direct the capital events process for private equity finds and subscriptions and redemptions for hedge funds and multi-asset funds.
  • Engage with the global team and our third party fund administrators on a day-to-day basis to discuss deliverables, accounting issues, and work through reporting and valuation.
  • Prepare and review regulatory filings or data used for regulatory reporting.
  • Participate in the monitoring of our third-party service providers, and preparation of board meeting materials.
  • Interact and coordinate with third party fund administrators, independent auditors, depositaries, and tax preparers to ensure that the funds' day-to-day financial operations run smoothly.
  • Develop/ deepen in-depth subject matter expertise with the responsibilities for the team, as well as guide the junior resources on the team with functional nuances.
  • Identify and hiring appropriate talent with varying experience levels, staffing the team appropriately and managing them both individually and as a collective team - setting goals, monitoring progress and offering ongoing career guidance.
  • Apply business / product / process understanding to identify opportunities to build depth in the function, move up the value chain from a complexity standpoint and work towards end-to-end ownership of appropriate tasks
  • Manage Stakeholders - effective communication and regular status reporting to key business stakeholders

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • CPA/CA with 10+ years of fund management experience for Private Equity and/or Hedge Funds
  • Partnership accounting (capital or unitized) experience is a must.
  • Strong practical understanding of private equity and hedge fund mechanics
  • Experienced people manager adept at working in matrix organization and managing dynamic high performing teams.
  • Confident and skill to think strategically, develop solutions, and present recommendations to business leaders.
  • Superior judgment and discretion working with both confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead by example and ability to think outside-of-the-box to address complex issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail oriented with the ability to understand multiple perspectives, identify and negotiate solutions across the organization.
  • Exceptional consensus building and influence skills, possesses the ability to achieve a common understanding and agreement across groups with differing perspectives.
