Edge Senior Network Engineer

The Edge network engineer will perform as technical SME for the Global region. The ideal candidate will have a deep, hands-on experience with key network technologies (SD-LAN, WLAN, Fabric, Network Automation) with a successful track record of hands-on implementation of significant program across regions and driving network delivery and continuous improvement of the IBM network. A strong focus on customer satisfaction and the ability to understand and address user problems are essential, ensuring that solutions enhance the overall user experience. A team player mindset, with the ability to operate with a "One Team" approach, is critical to success in this role.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Continuous interaction with Edge regional leader, project managers and Vendors to drive critical items to completion in Wide Area Network and Edge/Campus infrastructure.

• Device Deployment and Configuration, Network upgrades, roll out of new products and continuous improvements.

• Willingness to research, learn and use new technologies while staying focused on deliverables.

• Work with IBM internal Teams and vendors on reported issues and problems that require higher technical level of engagement.

• Customer-focused approach, with the ability to understand user problems and deliver solutions that enhance End user experience and application performance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and optimize existing infrastructure.

• Ability to support a global network footprint, with availability to address critical issues outside of standard business hours when necessary.

Required technical and professional expertise

Expected Skills:

• Proven Engineering experience in Transformation/Transition of Enterprise networks.

• Deep technical knowledge of current network technologies, hardware, protocols, and standards

• Exposure to preparation, design and adjustments of Site environment deployment (rack, power, cooling, etc.)

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with global teams and stakeholders.

• Demonstrate capability managing simultaneous programs, crisis situations, and successfully meeting business objectives.

• Demonstrated Experience with DNAC, Cisco ISE and Network Automation Platforms

• Understanding of Wi-Fi solution such as Juniper Mist (Deployment and Management)

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Certifications from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.

• Experience with open hardware network platforms is a plus.

• Experience in scripting languages, software defined network automation, SDN controllers for network automation tasks.

• Experience in making standardized template driven configurations.
