General Description:
HRL Laboratories, LLC is looking to hire a motivated candidate to lead our System Concepts Group. This teams works with HRL's customers in the defense, intelligence, aerospace, and automotive communities to envision the next generation of radar, communication, and phased array products.
Essential Duties:
This role consists of roughly 30% management and 70% technical contributions. Line management duties include managing resources, talent acquisition, performance management, and additional enterprise-wide assignments (e.g. business development and planning for capital investments). Technical responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners, including R&D teams, engineering, quality, vendors, customers, and regulatory agencies, to develop novel product concepts. This candidate will be expected to provide hands-on support in the development of novel technologies throughout the entire technology development lifecycle, including conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design verification activities to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Candidates will be expected to utilize their expertise in system engineering and RF systems development to contribute to design reviews, technology evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills:
5+ years of line management experience
10+ years of proven experience in transitioning technology from research to product development within the RF, electronics, and/or defense industry
Experience with manufacturing and integrated assembly of electronic components into DoD and/or commercial RF systems or payloads
Experience implementing system engineering principles and working with technical teams to ensure compliance with best practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Working knowledge of RF systems with an emphasis on commercial radar, military radar, cellular communication systems, SATCOM, and/or tactical communication systems.
Thorough understanding of system engineering principles.
Understanding of DoD missions and technology acquisition process
Familiarity with regulations and standards for military (MIL-STD) and RF hardware
Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers, as well as perform detailed analyses of radar systems and components, and prepare written and oral presentations.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Required Education:
M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing to travel and work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $182,720 - $234,168 + bonus + benefits.
