As a part of our organic talent grown, we have a Finance Manager open. It is responsible for providing financial support for the Custom Culinary Supply Chain team. This includes the management of standard costing for manufacturing plants in Avon, OH and Oswego, IL, providing financial support for month end close, monthly reporting, analysis, and planning. This important role is a financial business partner for the Custom Culinary® Supply Chain organization and an impactful member of the team. This role supports management of Supply Chain expenses, manufacturing variances, capital project analysis, networking capital, and standard costs.

Annual Planning & Quarterly Forecasting

  • Support development of annual operating plan expenses for Supply Chain.
  • Monitor financial results and develop forecast recommendations in support of the quarterly forecast process. Ensure alignment on assumptions with VP Supply Chain.
  • Support development of the annual Net Working Capital plan and regular quarterly updates.
  • Support updates to long range plans and capacity analysis as needed.

Month End Close

  • Provide support for the month-end closing process. Inclusive of but not limited to completion of manufacturing related entries, standard monthly entries, Supply Chain expense reviews and reclassifications, completion of Supply Chain monthly reporting.
  • Analyze monthly expenses compared to the operating plan, forecast, and contingency plans where appropriate. Understand and explain key performance drivers.
  • Identify charges that may have been miscoded and reclass as necessary to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Review monthly freight expenses and inform the organization of cost trends and potential opportunities to improve costs (or risks to future costs).
  • Drive organizational focuses on managing Net Working Capital within targeted levels and provide analysis to identify potential improvements.
  • Variance analysis - identify key drivers for monthly financial performance
  • Ensure expenses are properly coded and complete adjusting entries as needed
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement improved systems including but not limited to Technological and Procedural improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal controls and processes.

Reporting

  • Work with VP Supply Chain to identify appropriate key financial measures for Supply Chain. Provide monthly reporting for agreed upon Supply Chain financial KPIs.
  • Identify key drivers of financial results as compared to operating plan, forecasts, and/or contingency plans.
  • Work with Plant teams to develop yield reporting to assist prioritizing improvement opportunities and validating savings derived from completed improvement efforts.
  • Work with Plant Managers to understand drivers of expense variances and help ensure we achieve targeted spending. Recommend corrective actions to bring spending back in line with the budget. Provide analytical support demonstrating variances resulting from changes in business assumptions (for example, significant volume adjustments or capability changes). Support efforts to achieve cost/Lb. within operating plan targeted levels for each plant.
    • Conduct data analysis to identify opportunities for increased profitability as well as areas of risk that threaten business results.
    • Provide support to Plant Teams to identify when there are gaps in reporting and educate the team on the proper methodology to input the data and the rationale/benefit that the data provides to the organization.
    • Meet monthly with the VP Supply Chain to discuss business results and future actions.

Standard Costing

  • Manage standard costing of products for Avon and Oswego.
  • Ensure raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventories are reflective of current standard cost assumptions.
  • Adjust resource rates annually to ensure manufacturing expenses are being appropriately absorbed across the business.
  • Work with teams at each facility to ensure product parameters such as yield factors and standard order quantities are updated in Microsoft AX to reflect current assumptions.
  • Review shop orders in AX on a regular basis and financially end orders after ensuring accuracy of the shop order data.
  • Complete weekly analysis of production order manufacturing variances. Recommend corrective actions to improve costs and resolve data accuracy issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Plant teams to help ensure transaction data is reflected accurately in Microsoft AX.

Other

  • Provide analytical support for ad hoc projects and business initiatives as needed throughout the year.
  • Financial lead for physical inventories.
  • Provide financial support for sourcing decisions (internal manufacturing compared to co-manufactured).
  • Provide back-up support for pricing and profitability analysis.
  • Preparation of information for the interim and year-end audits.
  • Ensure business processes are documented and updated as needed.
  • Provide financial direction supporting calculations for GPE projects.
  • Provide financial support for Capital Expense Authorizations development and ensure financial accuracy prior to routing for approval.

Functional Knowledge

  • 5+ years of experience in financial roles with exposure to standard costing, reporting, planning, variance analysis, and project analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Supply Chain Finance role.
  • Must have demonstrated experience successfully collaborating in cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard costing processes.
  • Experience developing annual operating plans and/or monthly/quarterly forecasts.
  • Experience completing month-end financial closing activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and report development.
  • Experience building pricing models and supporting sku optimization processes.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables and advanced formula development required. Power BI / Power Pivot experience preferred.
  • Financial acumen and a strong understanding of business are required for this role.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
  • While experience in the retail food or food service industry is beneficial in this role, it is not required.

Leadership (has one direct report)

  • Will manage the process of developing Supply Chain plans and forecast. In this capacity, this person must be able to work cross functionally to ensure the plans are completed accurately and timely.
  • In leading the month end close process for Supply Chain, the person in this role must be able to establish timelines and ensure accuracy of the close data. They will also need to understand variance drivers and effectively communicate them along with corrective recommendations. This role will be able to influence the performance of the business through understanding the financial results and provision of actionable data and communication across Supply Chain.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership teams at each plant to ensure understanding of the business financials and assist in achieving the targeted cost per pound.

Problem Solving

  • Heavily involved in development of annual Supply Chain plans and quarterly forecasts.
  • Manage the month end close process for Supply Chain with a focus on ensuring timely and accurate completion of established close activities.
  • Provide insights into monthly variances and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within planning and reporting functions.

Impact

  • This position is responsible for providing financial support to the Custom Culinary Supply Chain team. The individual in this role will significantly impact the planning and forecasting processes, month end reporting, and variance analysis. This role impacts the efficiency and accuracy of reporting and will support ad hoc analysis as required by the business. This individual must be able to identify and execute process improvements.

Interpersonal Skills

  • This role will have regular interaction with the Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Finance. As such the individual in this role must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively. In addition, this person will need to be able to develop strong cross functional working relationships and influence decision making through their insights and analysis
