In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own global technical Design Office strategy for Electrical and Mechanical project in Power Conversion North America to deliver Project design package, product manufacturing information, installation and arrangement drawings, and Bills of Materials using CAD tools.
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of designers for all product design aspects of the assigned system.
  • Assure all component designs meet requirements, the electrical schematic design is well integrated into the Mechanical arrangement.
  • Check, validate, and ensure quality output from the DO team, providing feedback to the team members while also highlighting themes for leadership to understand opportunities for improvement.
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, to mitigate complex project risk and drive long-term strategic.
  • Proactively and effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.
  • Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Provide solid technical guidance and contribution to Design Reviews and design to cost projects
  • Drive strategic improvements to develop standard CAD Models and Drawings ending up with well design products.
  • Create strategies and methods to reduce Manufacturing reworks in all Power Conversion NAM products.
  • Manage concurrent engineering design processes, understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are meet.
  • Ensure that proper documentation of technical data, generated to substantiate the assigned components, assembly processes, and/or systems is consistent with design policies and procedures.
  • Identify and drive standard work procedure updates or creation of new standard work where gaps exist.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 12 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
  • Minimum of 8 years of extensive experience in electrical hardware design for low to medium voltage systems.

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced proficiency in E-Plan and AutoCAD.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards and regulations (NEC, IEC, UL).
  • Proven ability to come with a risk mitigation plan.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
  • Solid experience with panel design and layouts.
  • Experience with industrial control system.
  • Experience with power electronics.
  • Solid experience supporting manufacturing daily issues.
  • Proven experience driving change across the organization.
  • Solid experience mentoring and developing technical competencies with new team members.
  • Solid knowledge on power electronics.
