Job Description

As the Junior Electrical Application Engineer, you will join a small, collaborative team of application engineers focused on service opportunities. You will assess customer requirements and draft technical solutions for Customizations, Modifications, or Upgrades (CMUs) in service systems. You will develop the technical work scopes, bills of materials, and project risk assessments to support commercial operations for opportunities from regional sales teams and internal sales campaigns.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Assisting senior application engineers and providing technical expertise to commercial teams for cost-effective solutions and technical offers.
  • Innovating with engineering teams to create new market offerings and support in customer meetings, product presentations, and negotiations.
  • Collaborating with regional functions (Engineering, Commissioning, Sourcing) to deliver optimal proposals.
  • Identifying technical risks and developing mitigation plans, aligning offerings with customer requirements.
  • Reviewing sub-supplier proposals for feasibility with customer requirements.
  • Driving lessons learned, best practices, and standardization into Technical Proposals.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement within processes, solutions, systems, or equipment.

Essential qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Control Systems, or related field, or significant relevant experience gained in an engineering environment.
  • Some knowledge in Automation Systems, PLCs, Electrical Drives, or Power Systems to discuss system upgrades.
  • Willingness to train and develop in Application Engineering for Offshore, Naval, or Industry domains.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, being capable of working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Unrestricted Right to Work in the UK.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in creating sales proposals, technical quotations or application tenders.
  • Some real-life engineering experience in areas such as Power Systems, Control Systems, Variable Speed Drives, Industrial Automation, or Rotating Machines.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
