This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Oshawa Elevation Centre, three times per week at minimum. The GM Defense (GMD) Finance Planning Analysis group's primary responsibility is to support the GMDs leadership team to achieve financial commitments on current and future products, while continuing to investigate emerging opportunities to grow the business.Controllership's mission is to serve as a Strategic Business Partner, bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters as they related to SEC and Defence Production Act requirements, accounting, audit/SOX compliance and financial analyses. Leveraging financial systems, we strive to increase visibility, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability.In the Program FinanceAccounting Analyst role, we work on a variety of important projects, including but not limited to, monthly program status report outs to the GMD Leadership team, all time buy studies, support forecast/budget/LTP by providing monthly forecast/budget assumptions to the GMD FPA analyst. This role will also perform operational accounting responsibilities including month end close and support the ERP deployment for the Canadian LTV Program, via UAT testing and refinement to existing desk procedures. Given the fast-paced nature of this space there will be frequent opportunities to support special projects/analysis and get exposure to senior leadership.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Canadian LTV program team in strategic decisions and consolidate monthly financials for monthly operating reviews with the GMD Leadership teamEngage with the Canadian LTV program team to understand key drivers behind the financialsUnderstand and apply macro-economic, competitive, market, and other non-financial factors to evaluate GM Defense's performanceSupport the ERP deployment for the Canadian LTV ProgramParticipation in the development of long-term strategies and corresponding financial plansUnderstand and assess the threats opportunities to GM Defense's strategySupport or lead special project as needed to support GM DefenseDevelop a detailed understanding of GM's processes and systems to identify control gaps and any opportunities to streamline processes and controlsAssist with internal and external financial reporting, includinganalyzing consolidated resultsdrafting SEC documents and management review reportssupporting strong control environment to ensure accurate and timely resultsadhering to strict timeline for deliverablessupporting internalexternal audits and statutory reporting requirementsAssure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Resolve complex accounting issues impacting strategic business initiatives and identify potential accounting risksSupport cross-functional Finance teams while developing relationships to increase future career opportunities
