Job Description Summary
The OWS Operations Leader is the Post Holder (PH) Maintenance as defined in Pt145 regulations and therefore reports directly to the Business Leader (Pt145 Accountable Manager). They are responsible for leading all operational activity in the workshop and field tasks, in accordance with Pt145 regulations and GE Policies & Procedures. They have direct line management of the technical team, including Production, Lean and Technician personnel. They are responsible for the efficient working of operations to satisfy business and customer demand, and drive lean as a culture in accordance with the GE OWS Lean Strategy.

- Ensuring the safety and welfare of all Operations personnel.
- Creating and maintaining a safe working environment in the shop and during field tasks, to ensure the safety of all personnel entering the shop or supporting field tasks is not compromised.
- Ensuring all operational activity is conducted in compliance with Pt145 regulations, as detailed in the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and site quality procedures.
- Management of the technical capability and capacity of Technician staff, via recruitment, training and effective utilization to maintain regulatory technical currency.
- Objective monitoring and performance management of the Operations Department, including setting and reviewing individual's priorities, coaching and development, and taking corrective action to address shortfalls where necessary.
- Management of labour utilization of the Technician Team, including demand forecasting, absence, and other indirect activity management, to balance business and individual needs.
- Developing and driving the Site Lean Strategy via leadership of the Site Lean Leader, promoting an active Lean Culture and an appetite for change in all site personnel.
- Monitoring standard work in Operations to ensure output predictability and cost control.
- Collaboration with other functional leaders to ensure the coherent approach to problem solving of issues impacting operations, using the principles of the GE proprietary Flight Deck framework.
- Driving strategic change activity across Operations to support business growth, in accordance with the site Strategic Pillars.
- Leading cross business collaboration in Operations, to benefit from best practices from across the network and to maximize team learning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical subject from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 10 years' experience in an aerospace maintenance / engineering environment
- Experience of working in a Pt145 regulatory environment with aero engine products, with a minimum of 5 year experience in leadership, including direct management of personnel
- Proven experience in problem solving and driving change.
