The Electrical Vehicles Cooling System Simulation Engineer will be for multiple modelling studies that will define Target Setting and make Value Assessments for Garrett's Thermal Management portfolio for EV powertrains. The successful candidate will have prior experience in system level simulation and optimization of Electric Vehicles Heating/Ventilation/ Air Conditioning system components for Light & Commercial Vehicle and other applications. The responsibilities will be a combination of engineering problem solving and cross-functional collaboration with talented and passionate colleagues who share your enthusiasm for technical excellence and innovation.
Key job areas of responsibilities:
- Perform system simulation of thermal management system for battery electric vehicle, define target settings and value assessments (software GT Suite Gamma Technologies)
- Engage with OEMs to capture thermal system requirements/ development of system through the vehicle lifecycle
- Manage outsourced system simulations of heat exchange and AC compressor / Heat pump requirements
- Analyzing innovative HVAC System architectures vs benchmarks using simulation tools to achieve overall Heating/ Ventilation/ Air Conditioning performance and Thermal System requirements on EV under specified operating conditions to meet thermal system and vehicle requirements
- Develop control models to optimize for compressor/ heat pump performance, efficiency, noise levels
- Collaborate with external companies and universities in the context of your projects
- Maintain relationship with key players in the field of expertise in order to anticipate trends, stay on top of industry best practices and define the best strategy for tools development
- Support product development and application launches, launch issues and field issues when appropriate

Education and qualification:
- Masters/ bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or higher with specialization or significant working experience in Automotive HVAC development
- At least 2-3 years of hands on experience in the areas of thermal management in automotive or in another industries
Skills:
- GT Suite simulations of HVAC systems
- In-depth understanding of Vehicle HVAC System dynamics / Operational trade-off for various sub-systems for optimal Heat Load Balance
- Excellent understanding of External Functional Analysis for the cooling system/ sub-system level/ developing validation plans/ conducting experiments to evaluate the concepts
- Excellent understanding on the industry challenges on thermal management for Battery Electric Vehicle and Fuel cell electrical vehicle
- Understanding of functionality of system components in BEV/ FCEV/ HVAC system conditions and experience in optimization for heat exchanger/ heat sinks/ condenser/ compressors
