Responsibilities

As a Lead Systems Engineer you will be responsible for using your technical knowledge to solve business problems. We are looking for a talented individual that can serve as a subject matter expert in their area of focus and represent their department on complex assignments. You will be responsible for evaluating elements of technologies effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness. You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations. 

  

As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for evolving and maintaining the infrastructure that sits underneath our primary reporting systems. In this position, you will perform monitoring, proactively react to bottlenecks and areas of concern, configure, and support our Kubernetes environment work to cross-train with other team members. In this role, you will perform as the primary business hours on-call support, as well as assist with off hours on-call rotation as needed after onboarding. Current off-hours on-call rotation is 1 week, every 3 weeks although this is subject to change as the team dynamics evolve.



As an Lead Systems Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of Azure platform solutions and related technologies
  • Partnering with various IT teams, vendors, and lines of business to ensure solutions are built to best practices and will meet all applicable business, legal, and audit requirements 
  • Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of technical requirements, designs, infrastructure, and support processes
  • Proposing software and/or configuration enhancements to adapt to changes in business requirements or to gain efficiencies through automation
  • Improving Cloud Data Engineering solutions and systems for protection against evolving threats and efficiency
  • Coaching and developing other members of the organization on the best practices that should be followed in Data Management and cloud platform development
  • Managing access and permissions where necessary and implementing automated solutions
  • Troubleshooting and managing issues related to platform, Azure objects, Databricks, etc.
  • Obtaining an in-depth understanding Cloud Data Engineering enterprise technologies, as well as key business and security drivers as they relate to the projects
  • Driving continual improvement processes to enhance the end-user experience, increase technology value, and improve security posture

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
  • Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with Cloud technologies
  • Experience in Python or Azure SQL
  • Proficient knowledge Linux (Ubuntu preferred) and command line scripting
  • Experience with configuration management and build automation capabilities such as Git/Jenkins/Azure DevOps
  • Working knowledge of modern IT infrastructure components, including but not limited to: networking, load balancing, firewall rules, SSL, system management / monitoring, and hardware components (storage, CPU, etc.) 
  • Incident/Problem/Configuration/Change management 
  • Must be curious and interested in exploring modern technologies, and have a desire to push your skillset outside of your comfort zone 
  • Must be capable of leading meetings and discussions focused on the creation of the overall solution versus the underlying technology 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work on multiple simultaneous requests and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment while balancing conflicting demands 
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate technical details in a clear, concise, understandable manner while being able to relate to, and influence, both technical and non-technical staff 
  • Must have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including debugging multi-threaded applications 
  • Must be able to both collaborate in a team-oriented environment and work independently with direction
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Experience automating cloud deployments using Azure Resource Manager or Terraform 
  • Expert knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocol, Web APIs, XML, YAML, JSON, SOA/Web services and best practices 
  • Experience in delivering software through entire SDLC process 
  • Professional experience working within ITIL processes
  • Experience with Big Data solutions and no SQL DBMSs
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Security services (e.g., Microsoft Defender for Identity, Azure Prior experience leading large-scale projects
  • Intermediate level experience with PowerShell scripting 
  • Experience with API Integration
  • Knowledge and working experience with Agile methodologies
  • Experience administering SSRS
  • Experience developing SSRS reports
  • Experience with Power BI Reporting
