Purpose of Role:
The Brand Finance Manager supports the Rum & Vodka team with, forecasting, analysis, budgeting, initiative, and strategic planning to support obtainment of North American Market objectives. This is an exciting role that has high visibility across Marketing and Finance leadership, providing analytical insights to the Lead Brands SVP and Leadership Team, as well as cross-functional Finance senior leadership.
The key objective of this role is to own and lead the financial agenda for the Rum & Vodka portfolio, over $1.3B in NSV and $400M in A&P, working with the marketing and finance teams to produce insightful analysis and performance-driven recommendations. This role reports to the VP, Marketing Finance for US Spirits. Brand Finance owns and drives forward-looking planning and financial analysis to deliver accurate and timely forecasts in line with the business requirements and designated timeframes. We provide hands-on support as required to ensure all key financial results are met. The team does all of this while building and maintaining good working relationships with both finance and non-finance partners in various departments across the company.
Context/Scope:
- Financial and strategic business partner for Rum & Vodka Brands organization
- Plays a meaningful role in crafting the company's long-term sustainable growth strategy while also focusing on near term brand performance
- Provides financial oversight of A&P brand budgets
- Supervise current brand performance and key drivers of growth
- Charged with partnering with cross functional teams to model future brand performance and valuing potential growth drivers
- Lead and contribute to coordinated business planning initiatives for US Spirits
- Requires the individual to excel functionally and to build effective working relationships across the commercial and brand teams at all levels of the organization
- Collaborate with M&E/Data Analytics/NRM team to ensure that the brand team is identifying and bringing to bear useful insights
- Partner with A&P Team in Budapest to ensure adherence to the principles of budgetary control in all marketing teams. Ensure all activities and growth plans align with Diageo strategy and standards.
Finance Manager will:
- Lead Portfolio Strategy process for Rum & Vodka Brands, developing a framework, tools, templates, and analyses to synthesize portfolio projections and develop insights
- Lead and drive building blocks and the financial elements of the annual brand planning process across Rum & Vodka Categories
- Assess financial performance, provide business insights, and develop scenario plans
- Partner with Brand teams to coordinate/prepare/facilitate quarterly brand plan reviews
- Assess investment opportunities to ensure they align with overall strategy and financial targets, while developing return on investment analyses to evaluate programs, opportunities, and cost savings initiatives
- Drive efficiency initiatives to ensure effective allocation of resources and efficient use of investments by brand
- Champion the compliance agenda and maintain a strong internal control & compliance environment
- Excel at cutting through ambiguity and act as a critical thought partner to the Marketing and Innovation Leadership Team, VP Marketing Finance and SVP Finance US Spirits
- Support VP & SVP in ad-hoc projects including but not limited to US Strategy, portfolio optimization, and performance management
Key Outputs:
- Monthly O&R for Brand A&P investments
- Annual Integrated Business Plan Growth Building Blocks and Investment Allocation
- Development, compilation and communication of brand performance, market assessments, competitive reviews, and other industry and portfolio strategy related insights and summaries
- Insightful business performance management analysis and generation of improvement opportunities
- Transform ideas that may range from market insights and competitor performance to creative investments and growth models into financial projections
- Provide brand growth modeling, profitability analyses, and scenario planning
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- 5+ years of relevant business experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. MBA and / or recognized accounting qualification preferred
- FP&A, Brand Finance, Commercial Finance experience preferred
- CPG Experience preferred
- Outstanding analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a validated ability to collaborate with various partner, build relationships, and influence across large matrix organization
- Capacity to communicate sophisticated ideas in simple understandable terms
- Ability to balance strategy and drive to execution
- High energy and drive
