DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented School to Work - System Integration Engineering (Student) to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Supporting Engineering : By building electric-drive-axle electrical components and modules. Being able to support with building test benches and wiring schematics.
- Compliance Knowledge : Developing and maintaining laboratory environment and automation testing using CAN tools and other tools for data acquisition.
- Employee Relations : Assisting other team members within the controls and electronics organization.
- Policy Adherence : Ensuring all lab safety and policies are met and followed.
- Team Support : Supporting team members in need of controls setup and system integration.
- Report Management : Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generation of test reports that meets with today's V-model structure.
- Engineering Projects : Assisting with special projects, such as new and developing products for electric drive vehicles.
- Record Keeping : Coordinating and maintaining laboratory test setups, materials, and component inventories.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Communicate Effectively : Utilize your outstanding oral and written communication skills to clearly convey information, complete engineering documents, and prepare test reports. This ensures clarity and precision in all communications.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite : Apply your working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook to create reports, manage data, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively. This will help you stay organized and efficient.
- Attention to Detail : Pay close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and compliance with policies and engineering standards. This minimizes errors and maintains high-quality work.
- Adaptability : Be flexible and adaptable to handle various projects and adjust to changing priorities and needs. This allows you to effectively manage multiple tasks and respond to dynamic work environments.
- Interpersonal Skills : Develop strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with colleagues, support team members, and foster a collaborative work environment. This enhances teamwork and productivity.
- Continuous Learning : Stay updated on the latest engineering technology and safety practices in the electric vehicle field. This ensures you remain knowledgeable and can contribute to innovative solutions.
Education/Experience:
Pursuing a degree in engineering, electric vehicle systems, or a similar field.
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information:
Mechanical Experience with building automotive harnesses, able to solder, populate and depopulate circuit boards, automotive hand and power tools preferred.
Software Experience with MATLAB Simulink, Creo Schematics CAD, CAN tools such as Vector, ETAS, or Peak-Systems a plus.
