DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Technician - Level IV to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Cummins Inc. facility in Ladson, SC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Enhancing Safety Culture : By integrating HSE culture into daily processes, you will help create a safer work environment for everyone.
- Identifying and Addressing Gaps : You will determine gaps within corporate HSE initiatives and local policies, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
- Incident Management : Your role in hazard identification, incident investigation, and risk assessment will help prevent future incidents and improve safety protocols.
- Training and Awareness : By delivering training and effectively communicating HSE practices, you'll raise awareness and ensure everyone is informed about safety procedures.
- Supporting Environmental Management : Coordinating environmental activities and supporting sustainability initiatives will contribute to the company's environmental goals.
- Emergency Preparedness : Implementing and maintaining emergency response processes will ensure the site is prepared for any emergencies, minimizing risks.
- Quality Assurance : Performing quality checks and identifying non-conforming materials will help maintain high standards and reduce costs.
- Team Collaboration : Effective communication and teamwork will foster a collaborative environment, driving improvements in safety, quality, and overall processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Process Optimization Skills : Ability to identify and implement the most effective and efficient processes, with a focus on continuous improvement to enhance productivity and safety.
- Strong Health and Safety Fundamentals : Proactively champion and model health and safety behaviors, contributing to an injury-free workplace and fostering an interdependent safety culture.
- Expertise in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis : Conduct thorough, evidence-based investigations of HSE incidents, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Knowledge of HSE Management Systems : Apply international standards within the operating environment to maintain an effective HSE management system and achieve external certification.
- Risk Assessment Proficiency : Evaluate workplace hazards using risk assessment techniques to prioritize and implement control measures, reducing risks to as low as reasonably practicable.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
- A two-year University degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or related field required.
- Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and experience in health, safety, environment, or related field.
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information
- OSHA 10 - Required.
- OSHA 30 - Desirable.
- Required minimum 2 years of Industrial HSE experience - Manufacturing or Automotive.
- The role involves active presence on the shop floor observing HSE practices and to maintain interactions with employees / contractors.
- The role will include the delivery of a variety of HSE training.
