Your Opportunity

CSL (a top 5 ASX company) is a global biotechnology company with a dynamic portfolio of lifesaving medicines, including those that treat haemophilia and immune deficiencies, as well as vaccines to prevent influenza.

As CSL's Regional Data Privacy Head, Asia Pacific (APAC),you will be the recognised leading expert in Data Privacy in our region. You will manage complex projects of strategic importance to CSL and you will recommend operational strategies and plans that will directly influence the achievement of overall functional results of the Data Privacy Office.

Working across the Asia Pacific region where CSL operates with a focus on Australia, China, Japan, you will develop an APAC region strategy and execution of the global Data Privacy program, compliance to policies and procedures and responsible for all strategies and operational plans to ensure that CSL's Data Privacy policies and procedures are followed and maintained

Reporting to the Global Head, Data privacy you will:
  • Act as CSL's Data Privacy advisor and key partner to the CSL enterprise in APAC with ongoing Data Privacy risk identification, management, controls, and mitigations. Represent CSL's Data Privacy interests with external parties
  • Monitor changes to Data Privacy laws across your region and work with your in country contacts in Legal, I&T, Commercial Operations and other enterprise wide functions to identify gaps, mediation steps and identify opportunities for improvement in the Data Privacy area including technology
  • Lead and educate the business on issues concerning Data Privacy and foster data protection awareness by partnering with senior leaders. Lead initiatives to meet our regulatory requirements in the countries we operate in
  • Review and collaborate with the business to complete Data Privacy risk assessments and advise on the operationalization of mitigation activities
  • Lead efforts with the business to manage other components of Data Privacy operations, such as privacy incident/data breach response, data subject requests, and Data Processing Agreements.

Your skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law or advanced degree in relevant field
  • Certification in Data Privacy preferred for example, International Association of Privacy Professional certification
  • Knowledge of interpreting and applying global Data Privacy laws and regulations
  • Experience working with regulators and regulatory agencies (preferred)
  • Japanese and/or Chinese language skills would be desirable but not essential to be successful in this role
