Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily paving, grading, stone base, and DOT Heavy & Highway projects, including resource allocation, scheduling, and quality control
  • Oversee operating budgets and costs, optimizing efficiency and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Coordinate with other departments, clients, and subcontractors to meet project deadlines and specifications
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance and productivity
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence
  • Help establish production's Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), interpret, and apply key financial indicators to make better business decisions.
  • Build strong internal relationships, across all departments ensuring continuous collaboration delivering efficiencies and superior customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee hauler agreements, including terms and rates; collaborate with Legal to ensure company is protected from financial liability and carriers have adequate insurance.
  • Take responsibility for developing and delivering change management plans and achieving outcomes that support the organization's overall strategy.
  • Manage and report on the performance of the function /business area; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
  • Communicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision and values; clarify the actions needed to implement it within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
  • Promote a safe working culture for employees
  • Work with safety and field personnel to minimize risk and increase safety
  • Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs of a significant business area. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities. Motivate others to develop their capabilities and fulfill their personal potential.
  • Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods.


Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 10+ years' experience in a combination of managing grading, stone base, paving, and heavy & highway civil work.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Experience creating, working within and/or administering an assigned budget.
  • High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
  • Strong work ethic and high standards for safety in the workplace.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
