Leidos is looking to fill the Construction Manager (CM) position, who will be managing construction projects throughout the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Projects range from civil work, renovation, repairs, utilities construction, facility construction, and science construction support. Construction efforts are a mix of self-performed and subcontracted work. This position is remote-based within the United States (US) and requires deployment to Antarctica, potentially requiring multiple deployments within a single calendar year. It is anticipated that the CM will deploy each year, with deployments varying in duration. Total deployment time is expected to range from four (4) to six (6) months per year. Travel, lodging (dormitory accommodations), and meals are provided during deployment.

Deployment to Antarctica will be required for this role (approximately 4-6 months per year). The candidate in the position must complete the physical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.
The anticipated salary range for this role is $95,000 - $105,000 annually, along with a percentage increase during deployment time.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:
Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF's Office of Polar Program's Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:
- Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.
- Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.
Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:
- Directly responsible for the execution of construction projects.
- Manages construction activities following project plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Keeps relevant project managers and others informed of project status, issues, and incidents for the project through a daily field activity reports.
- Plans and coordinates for availability of equipment, tools and materials required to execute self-perform scopes of work.
- Performs planning and estimating as required to support construction estimates, schedules, and procurements.
- Performs constructability design reviews.
- Responsible for change control during the construction phase of projects and for managing budgets tied to construction activities.
- Identifies required design and specification changes prior to construction, and utilizes the request for information process, documented changes through engineering review.
- Participates in project meetings/teleconferences to monitor progress, implement procedures, ensure compliance with specifications and standards, and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Reports project progress in relation to project schedules, and updates schedules at required intervals.
- Support deconfliction of resources, maximize the subcontractor's effectiveness, avoid costly delays, and minimize the impacts of projects on routine operations.
- Coordinates construction support efforts such as material laydown areas, jobsite trailer placement, and temporary site utilities as required for construction.
- Interacts with the National Science Foundation (NSF), military and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner, on an as needed basis.
- Stakeholder management and coordination between Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) functional work groups and project specific subcontractors.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority on the job site.
- Performs other duties as required.
What Sets You Apart:
- A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in construction management.
- Experience supervising construction trades and overseeing activities associated with project scheduling and cost estimating.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and diagrams.
You May Also Have:
- Possess OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience using construction scheduling applications such as Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project.
- Experience working in polar environments.
- Experience as Owner's Representative.
