Job Summary

The Regional Manager, Supply Chain Services - Non-Rail Operations and Distribution Services is responsible for leading the operational planning process to handle supply, demand, and terminal capacity. The incumbent handles yard inventory, equipment inventory, staffing levels and terminal expenses. The role analyzes information and makes decisions to optimize performance, maximize capacity utilization, improve customer service, and contribute to the overall terminal performance for all facilities in their region. Furthermore, the incumbent is required to engage with Sales and Marketing as well as customers on a daily basis to discuss terminal capacity and opportunity for new business.

Main Responsibilities

Operational Management Process and Planning

  • Oversee the terminal capacity, inbound and outbound railcar pipeline as well as daily operational planning


  • Oversee inventory count and provide creative solutions to maintain suitable inventory levels


  • Handle train and truck operation on an ongoing basis by monitoring employee productivity and the timely loading of equipment


  • Build safety compliance and improve safety results through regular safety audits, blitzes and walkabouts


  • Lead the training activities of new employees and ensure they acquire the proper skills to perform their roles


  • Monitor and participate in improving vendor performance, including invoice validations


  • Oversee budget and workforce productivity within CN policy


  • Maintain communication with the Regional Senior Manager, Supply Chain Services, Director Distribution Services, and others


  • Collaborates with Sales and Marketing as well as other functions to improve terminal operation and revenue goals

Safety and Compliance Management

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment


  • Validate rule compliance including positive feedback for compliance and appropriate follow-up for non-compliance


  • Provide coaching

Working Conditions

The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments that operate 24/7 and work shifts which include overnight hours, weekends and holidays. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. to the role requires occasional travel (25%) to locations across North America where CN operates Transload facilities.

Requirements

Experience

Operations

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an operation environment


  • Experience working in a unionized environment


  • Experience directing employees with safety sensitive or safety critical jobs

Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)


  • Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in operational planning, resource allocation, demand and supply, as well as process management
