Senior Manager, Technical Program Management (Data Management) - Capital One Software
Ever since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has recognized that technology and data can enable even large companies to be innovative and personalized. As one of the first large enterprises to go all-in on the public cloud, Capital One needed to build cloud and data management tools that didn't exist in the marketplace to enable us to operate at scale in the cloud. Building on Capital One's pioneering adoption of modern cloud and data capabilities, Capital One Software is helping accelerate the data management journey at scale for businesses operating in the cloud. Our TPM Sr. Manager should have:
- Strong technical background (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
- A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
- Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
- Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
- Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
- Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- At least 10 years of professional software industry experience (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 5 years of experience in technical program management
- At least 3 years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables, and unblock teams to land business impact
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- At least 12 years of professional software industry experience (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 3 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
- At least 3 years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - using AWS, GCP or Azure
- At least 3 years of experience with Agile delivery
- At least 2 years of experience in delivering programs in one of the Data Management areas listed below:
- Data Protection
- Access Control / Policy Enforcement
- Data Monitoring and Alerting
- Data Scanning and Classification
- Data Governance
- Data Catalog / Metadata Store
- Data Lineage
- Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
