About This Role 
Alliance Management contributes to establishing and maintaining relationships with Biogen’s partners. This role exposes the individual to cross-functional colleagues across Biogen and requires strong collaboration with internal and partner stakeholders. The Director, Alliance Management will be accountable for managing alliances through the alliance life-cycle and contribute to the success of the partnership.  You will be responsible for stakeholder and process management for alliance governance and contribute to conflict resolution.  You will participate in alliance design,  facilitate collaboration agreement  execution development, and develop best practices for best-in-class alliance execution.  The ideal candidate will operate with an entrepreneurial spirit and urgency to positively influence Biogen’s ability, in conjunction with our partners, to deliver new medicines to individuals across the globe afflicted by some of the most complex and challenging diseases.

What You’ll Do 
•    Support some of Biogen’s alliances with a focus on assets/partnerships that are typically grounded in pre-Commercial assets from pre-clinical through Phase II.  
•    Develop collaboration guiding principles and objectives, execute and recommend changes to governance structure, develop joint ways of working, and provide alliance health checks.  
•    Act as the technical expert on the alliance contract, facilitate contract agreement execution and as needed, support contract amendments. 
•    Drive alliance governance including alignment with internal and collaboration partners  on agenda, internal preparation, and outcomes tracking. 
•    Build knowledge of partner capabilities, culture, assets, deal structure /drivers, derisking. Establish relationship with partner counterparts. Represent the voice of the alliance with stakeholders.
•    Implement tools and best practices for best-in-class alliance execution.
•    Drive functional learnings within an alliance.

Required Skills 
•    Knowledge of alliance contracts and ability to translate into actions.
•    Experience in stakeholder management both internally and externally with partners
•    Conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions. Ability to anticipate business/alliance issues and recommend path to resolution and improvements. 
•    Track record of leading projects and executing on multiple work streams in parallel. Experience on developing the strategy for project execution. 
•    Ability to communicate complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others to adopt a different point of view.
•    Experience with change management strategies.
•    Strong written and verbal executive communication skills

Required Experience
•    12-15 years of experience in Life Sciences Alliance Management or related roles required.  Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, as appropriate.
•   Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. 
•   Adjacent experience in Finance, Business Development, Strategy, Commercial, Medical, R&D and Manufacturing is strongly considered. 
• Track-record of strong individual contributor experience in a matrixed organization.
• Track record of leading cross-functional projects.
