The BD Medication Management Solutions (MMS) Business Unit is a $3.4B unit within BD which creates and delivers solutions for end to end medication safety, inventory optimization, and clinician efficiency across the care continuum. Key brands include BD Pyxis™, BD Alaris™, Parata™, BD ROWA ™ and BD HealthSight™. Our focus is on making the medication management simpler, safer and smarter.

Sr. Director Global MMS FP&A role reports directly to the VP of Finance for MMS business unit and has a strong linkage to MMS President. This critical role will be providing financial leadership to $3.5BB global business and is a key contributor to the MMS leadership group. The role is also responsible for MMS Global FP&A, MMS Global R&D Portfolio, MMS Excellence (Gross Margin improvement).

The position will coordinate the preparation of the MMS annual budget, quarterly projections, and long-term strategic plan to ensure that they are achievable and consistent with MMS and corporate objectives. Additionally, this person will collaborate with Senior Management across MMS and their teams to establish KDGs in line with long-term financial objectives. This position will also help ensure that efficient and accurate financial forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes are in place including underlying financial modelling and systems. In addition, this position will play a key role in driving discipline and accountability around R&D investments to ensure MMS delivers on committed ROI. Finally, a person in this role will partner with MMS Excellence office to improve margin while driving efficiencies and process simplifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates MMS annual budget, quarterly projections, and strategic plans
  • Contributes to the formulation and implementation of business strategies and critical objectives
  • Supports new business development and new go-to market models
  • Works with the VP Finance, unit President and Leadership team to establish worldwide business and regional financial goals and key metrics
  • Ensures the metrics are consistent with MMS strategies and balance short- and long-term business objectives
  • Understands underline operations and seek improvements that lead to better business and financial outcomes
  • Develops and publishes regular reporting to track results and progress against goals/KPIs - optimize bowler format. Accountable for accuracy, thoroughness and timeliness of required reporting analysis
  • Presents, analyse, and interprets relevant financial data to the VP Finance, MMS President, Segment CFO, and/or business units and other line managers
  • Assist in R&D investment prioritization
  • Work with MMS Excellence office leader to identify opportunities and drive outcomes towards Margin Improvement, process simplification and efficiencies in MMS
  • Assists in providing leadership to entire MMS FP&A organization by developing and championing changes to processes, people and systems as needed
  • Develops and coaches direct reports, and provides mentoring to other finance associates as needed
  • Other business partnership activities as needed by the business

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business or Accounting plus an MBA or CPA certification (or equivalent)
  • 15+ years of relevant accounting and financial analysis experience within a multinational business. Prior experience in Healthcare industry is a plus
  • Strong system/application skills: SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, BPC
  • Based in San Diego, CA
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global matrix structure, along business, geographic and functional dimensions
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop a Finance team
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, finance principles and internal controls
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statements and analytical techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management
  • Action oriented: demonstrated ability to drive results/outcomes
  • Excellent modelling and project management skills
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leading process, system and people change
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to people at all organization levels
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural and geographical differences when interacting with others
  • Ability to work accurately under strict deadlines with minimal supervision
