Job Description

Director of Business Intelligence, is a pivotal role on the Operational Excellence (OpX) Leadership Team supporting the Aramark Refreshments line of business. This individual will lead a team of data professionals in the strategic management and utilization of data to drive business insights and informed decision-making across the business. This role will also partner closely with OpX team members, operational leaders and IT, serving as the business owner of key operational systems that support field execution. The Director of Business Intelligence will report to the Vice President of Operational Excellence.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting & Data Leadership:

  • Strategic Development: Define, implement, and execute the organization?s operational reporting and data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and goals.
  • Business Reporting: Lead the business reporting function, tracking key metrics and initiatives through automated dashboards and self-serve tools, such as Power BI.
  • Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with OpX teammates and operational leaders to ensure the proper metrics and systems are in place to measure success and proactively monitor performance.
  • Metric Integrity: Ensure the relevancy, scalability, and reliability of key performance metrics

Business Intelligence & Analytics:

  • Dashboard Development: Lead the development and enhancement of operational metrics dashboards and reporting solutions to provide real-time, actionable insights.
  • Advanced Analytics: Provide operational insights by leveraging data visualization, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques to solve business challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and support complex data projects, ensuring the integrity and quality of data analysis. Manage priorities and provide guidance to the Business Intelligence data team.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize data-driven initiatives that will have the greatest impact on operational efficiency and business growth.

Technology Project Leadership:

  • Continuous Improvement: Own the roadmap for system and tool enhancement to better support operators and field execution, includes applications such as VendSys, SalesForce, dynamic routing software and other business applications.
  • Requirements Development: Translate business requirements from leaders in Operations, Finance, Marketing into actionable designs in collaboration with IT.
  • Pilot Implementation: Pilot and implement new technology projects, applying practical operational expertise to ensure successful execution in the field.

Proposal & Project Support:

  • Data Project Insights: Lead analysis work for promotional activities to measure the effectiveness and ROI for various Marketing Promotions.
  • Financial Acumen: Must have a strong understanding of the business P&L and how to build tools for the field team to capitalize on various financial levers.
  • Process Support: Support the business with new business process and reporting/billing requests when needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with OpX team members (e.g. Service Excellence, Fleet, Warehouse) and internal/external partners (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Product Suppliers) to ensure that data and analytics initiatives are aligned with business needs.
  • Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor on data and analytics strategies, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Data Integration: Work closely with IT and supplier partners to ensure the proper integration and protection of data assets.

Team Development & Coaching

  • Culture: Lead and mentor the Business Intelligence data team, fostering a culture of empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Objective Setting: Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support the professional growth and development of team members.
  • Project Leadership: Manage team projects to meet objective, budget and timeline goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; experience in the convenience retail and/or hospitality industry preferred.

• 8+ years of experience in analytics, and business intelligence, with a proven track record of leading data initiatives at an enterprise or line of business level.

• Demonstrated ability to translate data insights into strategic business recommendations. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in driving business results.

• Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced analytics techniques.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams. Prior people leadership experience preferred.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for business stakeholders.

• Ability to work within a matrix organization including field operations, regional staff, LOB support functions, and OpX.

• Capacity to deal with ambiguity, work in a dynamic fluid environment and effectively cope with change.

• Position is based in Philadelphia at Aramark Headquarters and requires 10-15% travel within the United States and Canada.
